Has a light aroma that smells mainly of toasted grains and fruity sugars, with a hint of hops.
On the tongue, the hops hit first, bringing in a grapefruit buzz that lasts for less than half a second. Then the malts kick in, and the beer really takes off. The malts are dark and rich: smoky, peaty, chocolaty, and nutty in almost equal parts, with a smidgen of toffee mixed in for good measure, and just a hint of tobacco burning in the back of your throat. The aftertaste is mostly smoky malts, though sugars come through right at the end and provide a small respite. Most noticeable about the aftertaste, however, is the tingling sensation on the soft palate--a tingling that I normally associate with hard alcohols. For the rather weak nose, I was surprised at the power of the flavor.
Overall, this is a decent brew, though no doubt some will be turned off by the smoky, peaty malts and wish for a sweeter beverage.

I think I found one of my new favourite beers.
Pours a clear coppery color with about a finger of two of solid just slightly off-colour head with a decent retention.
The aroma is extra nice. Some malts, some fruity smell but mostly biscuity and nutty notes, easily picked up by the nose.
The taste is likewise, amazing. Starts sweet and is followed by nice biscuity body, slight bitterness towards the end, and finishes with a nice spicy finish.
Easily drinkable, smooth, delicious. Just great.

Belhaven Scottish Ale brewed by Belhaven Brewery Company Ltd.This brew pours out dark amber color or light brown. With 3 shades of brown as the brew sits.It like this brew has 2 heads one fades away. The head is thick, creamy, and white. The smell is rich with flavor. I smell
tobacco and raisins. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. The taste is sweet- but bitter. Nothing overpowering ,but it has a bitter aftertaste. This brew is something I would get again if I was having a nice dinner. I'm giving this brew a 3.75 out of 5.
