Appearance: The beers a pours a dark copper color with a foamy one finger head. Sediments can be seen floating at the top of the head.
Smell: The smell is fairly subdued. A sweet malt aroma mixed with a wet grass smell can be noticed right away. After a few minutes a pinch of caramel can be detected. All aromas are very subtle but not unpleasant.
Taste: Much like the nose, a sweet, slightly roasted, malt taste is noticed early. There is a slight hint of caramel at the end and the aftertaste is slightly "smoky."
Mouth feel: It is very smooth with little dryness.
Overall: While not great, every aspect of the beer is better than average. It is not as complex as I was hoping but then again I do not have much experience with Scottish Ales. The "smoky" aftertaste was perhaps the most pleasantly interesting aspect of this brew. It's not world class but I'm glad I had it.
