From notes, on tap at the South Beach Hotel, Troon, Ayr, Scotland.

Mahogany brown, some highlights hedge towards a ruby.

Aroma is not hugely pronounced. Typically light hopping, although their peppery presence is felt. Dark malt and herbal spicing.

Flavors include darker fruits and caramel malt. Hops keep it crisp at the end, but add not a lot to the taste.

Ordered this one for my dad, drank half of it for the notes. This is a seriously light beer at 3% by volume, flavors are greater than that, but nothing stands out.

Perfectly coffee black, very dark with a milky-ivory head. Guinness-ish, I suppose you could call it. The nose is mild yet pointed, with resiny hops and maple syrup. Very woodsy with hints of brown sugar, oatmeal cookies, and coffee. The coffee carries over to the palate in a big way, along with tangy cola and a tight zip of leafy, floral hops. Delicate and balanced yet somehow robust, with a thin body that keeps it very drinkable. Remarkable for 2.9% ABV.

Half pint served by handpump at Paisley Beer Festival

A- Murky mahogany dirty dishwater body with a 2 finger soapy head reducing to a thin crown. Poor lacing.

S- Light nutty malt notes, not much else here really

T- Light nuttiness is there with a faint hop note, but this all gives up without a fight to a very timid uneventful end

M- Low carbonation, watery

D- Yes fantastically easy to drink but unaesthetically pleasing and tasteless.

Had this at the '11 Cambridge Beer Festival.
Earthy, malty, toasty; its best attribute is an amazing cocoa finish. It's hard to believe -- and encouraging -- that so much character can be found in a 2.9% brew. Worth checking out if you're in a sessioning mood.
