500ml bottle. ½ Pint glass. Enjoyed on agt´11. Dark copper in color, dark ruby to the light. Beige, creamy crown. Fairly well retention, rings & spots on sides. Caramel & toasted malt & plum aromas, some floral hues. Gentle toasted maltiness, sweet syrup & fruity notes. Sugary, slightly smoky in the middle. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Dark berries on the aftertaste. Smooth & gentle drinkability. Matches fairly well with desserts. (449 characters)

This pours great to make a good finger and a half thick head, which retains quite nicely. The lacing is exquisite. The body is dark ruby red in color, when held up to sunlight, and has clean filtered clarity.

Aroma characteristics are of toasted breads, but are quite faint.

The taste is a little on the sweet side, like a cola and root beer mix, with a touch of herb to keep things from getting too out of hand.

This feels somewhat light in body thin. There is a good amount of carbonation, which makes this more of a refreshing brew with a hint of complexity. (564 characters)

Pours clear dark with beautiful dense head and patchy lacing. Aroma is mild roasted malt, hints of vanilla.

Taste smooth and creamy sweetish malty caramel, some fruit and chocolate, very low roasted bitterness towards the end of the glass.

Overall, the beer was suprisingly sweet, but not in a bad way. (304 characters)

Although the label clearly calls this one a stout, there's no doubt that it's a decent Scottish Ale. From a bottle purchased from a local supermarket, this beer pours a beautiful translucent dark caramel color. The head is rich and tight, leaving an attractive lace. The aroma is all about the malt...sweet, slightly roasted, out-in-front malt. There's almost no hops at all in the flavor or smell. It's a sweet and clean beer, and a fine Scottish ale. Low carbonation, medium-to-full body. This was quite satisfying. (517 characters)

A: Pours a jet black with a two-finger head of tiny tan bubbles.

S: Roast malt with chocolate and raisins. There's a hint of something else in there, but I couldn't place my finger on it, and there was a guy smoking nearby.

T: This is a very sweet stout. In fact, I'd call it a porter on nitro-tap. In small amounts, it's fantastic, but the sweetness becomes cloying the more you have. (I had a half-liter serving.)

M: Fuller than your typical Irish dry stouts and very creamy.

D: A great dessert beer in a snifter, but not a session beer. (544 characters)

This beer pours a clear, beautiful deep caramel or mahogany color. Smells of caramel, molasses, and perhaps a little licorice. A bubbly tan head fizzes quickly to leave thin lacy covering over the liquid.

Taste is sweet, strong deep roasted malt flavor, with caramel and mocha notes and a slight aroma reminiscent of sweet scotch. Subtle hop flavor plays well among the more noticible malt character, increases some in the finish. The sweetness and malt come together to produce a very enjoyable mouth feel.

This is an incredible beer, very well rounded, just fantastic. I could drink several of these at a moment's notice. (625 characters)

Beer bottle (33cl), tasted in 2007.
Appearance: dark mahogany color, medium tan head
Smell : toasted malts, vanilla aromas
Taste and mouthfeel : caramel malts, sweet-chocolate's. Not hoppy taste, medium bodied
Drinkability : a good beer in the Stout style (not Scottish ale) (274 characters)
