The second release in their Tadpole Series--a very small batch brewed in collaboration with their retail manager. Aloha Gose is a kettle soured gose conditioned on mangoes and coconut.
It pours a surprisingly brownish red with essentially no head.
The smell is very muted. We tried vigorously swirling and shaking it, but not a lot of aroma comes off this one.
The flavors are difficult to discern, as all of the components seem to meld together to form their own profile. As one of the bartenders said it's almost like a Flanders Red. I got a strawberry-banana smoothie sort of flavor profile on my palate, with a very solid but not overwhelming tartness. There is little to no coconut, which really only comes out on the tail end as it warms, creating a smoothing, maybe vanilla undertone.
A good level of carbonation makes this a pleasant swirl around the tongue. I like it overall, it leaves me wondering what else Frog can do on the fruited sour end of the scale.
