Appearance: Deep brown black color nice head with some subtle lacing on the top.
Nose: Coffee black roasted coffee, some graininess and very dark chocolate
Palate: More coffee notes richer notes than what might be seen in Founder's breakfast stout but a similar coffee flavor. It's good diner coffee not some gourmet coffee. Nice bittersweet chocolate flavor akin to Stone 12th. Maltier than either of the beers I mentioned in the finish.
Final thoughts: A few months ago when this beer first hit NJ I wasn't sure if this was worth aging and I'm still not sure. It's capable of going the long haul but I'm not sure if it is worth the wait. Whatever you choose this beer is very yummy.
