Poured into a Beer Hunter snifter.

A - black as night, oily, viscous, slight deep tan head. As you swirl the beer in the glass, this baby has legs. The head does not last, though, like a virgin groom on his wedding night.

S - coffee, toffee, caramel, roasted malt, vanilla, like praline ice cream. This smells like a dessert cart in a glass.

T - my first sip: creamy, lucious, coffee, caramel. Whipped foam. Chocolate on the aftertaste. I'll come back to this as it warms up. this is dangerous, there is no alcohol bite at all. Be careful with this one. As it warms, the coffee and roast malt come through more.

M - like whipped cream with coffee, caramel, and chocolate.

D - beer orgasm. let me rest and I'll have another. be gentle with me. In a recent forum, someone asked what was the last beer that wowed you. This is it!

First of all, hats off to funkadelic for hooking me up with this bottle in a trade, cheers to you Cameron!

The appearance is pitch black and shiny with a tall and sticky brown head.

The aroma is filled with loads of roasted and chocolate malt, some espresso, milk chocolate, oatmeal and black licorice round it out nicely.

The flavor on this beast is what I will call 'exceptional.' It opens up with a rich and decadent chocolate paired with dark malts and espresso beans, but then rewards the taste buds even more with some citrus hops, cherry and dark fruit sweetness mid sip. Finally things dry up and get bitter for a lingering aftertaste of coffee and earthy hops.

It is my belief that mouthfeels don't get much better than this. If I could grade higher than 5 I would not hesitate to do so. Ultra smooth and silky, full bodied, rich and creamy. I just can't say enough!

This is liquid desert. I cannot wait to give the BA version a go.

Poured into my trusty snifter. Jet black body with a very dark 1 finger head The suds is composed of relatively large bubbles, which isn't really conducive to retention or lacing. Not a problem for a stout.

The aroma here is strikingly potent. Rich, sweet chocolate and a soft, fruity alcohol note combine to become extremely appetizing. I may be crazy but the harder I inhale, the more the fruitiness attenuates to a honeydew note.

The flavor is intensely chocolatey, with an impeccable roasty coffee/oat bitterness in the finish. The balance is sublime. The alcohol is almost entirely unapparent but I can detect it's subtle sharpness under the chocolate.

This beer is incredibly smooth. The body is luxuriously full, with just the right amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is amazingly clean relative to the body, and the bitterness creates a wonderfully dry finish.

Spectacular beer. One of those ones that you would kill to have available locally.

Look: Pours very dark. Basically black. Very little head, but very dark tan-brown in color. Very little lacing. But it's a good looking stout.

Smell: Strong chocolate smell up front, with a little bit of cherry and a touch of brown sugar. Like a chocolate covered cherry. Very good smell.

Taste: Almost the same as the smell, chocolate and cherry and brown sugar. A hint of coffee bitterness at the end.

Mouthfeel: Fulled bodied. Medium levels of carbonation.

Overall: This is fantastic. One of the better stouts I've had. I've had so many good stouts, it's hard to say this IS the best, but it's not far off.
