22 oz bottle. No date, but Erin bought it 3 weeks ago in Akron, so at least its from the source.
Appearance: Dark orange-amber. Big thick head fades into a nice dollop of cream. Beautiful lacing, just beautiful.
Smell: Sweet citrus and some more bitter, pithy grapefruit hops. There is a surprisingly healthy malty aroma with caramel and a little toast-- almost barleywine-esque.
Taste: Tasty, bitter citrus hops with bitterness lasting from the front to the back. Good balancing caramel malt flavor, but a bit sweeter and darker than I prefer for a DIPA. Again, a bit like a barleywine.
Mouthfeel: Its very soft and creamy, with a big resiny finish that helps dry out the sweetness a bit.
Overall: This is a pretty tasty beer. For the third time now, its a sweet, barleywine-like DIPA with significant bitter hoppiness. Good, but there are many better, especially for $10.99.
