Look: Pours with average, semi-thick (bottom has small bubbles, they get bigger towards the top), creamy, mocha head. It has good retention, mostly diminishing; patchy, thin, thick layer leaves some fine lacing. Dark with light brown (maybe some amber) hue, can't see through but the pour was with lighter body.

Smell: Freshness from plums and black berries and smooth roast with mostly milk chocolate and caramel. Some oats and grain with light espresso underline too. Maybe a bit of lemon hops also in the mix.

Taste: Fresh start with dark berries and plum dumplings - light sourness. Continues into medium light sweetness with smooth darker malt character, roast, milk chocolate, caramel. Light mineral notes present. The end is also smooth, light bitterness, mostly roast with milk chocolate. Some light sourness comes in the after too.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, but creamy, smooth with right amount of carbonation - enhances the silky feeling.

Overall: Suiting name, nothing stands out, everything relatively smooth, light and well balanced, yet has many thing to show.

Nice dark brew. A dark brown color with near opacity. The head never really formed. I have a thin cap settled on-top to appreciate.

Sultry dark cocoa notes with malt burliness and heavy roast. Has a little 'rugged' beneath the velvety decadence of the maltiness. Hints of coffee and berries. Refreshing nuances of dark fruit; refreshing, considering the volume of deep malt roast. There might be a nip of citrusy hops underneath it all, but it's hard to pick up on.

Minerally and earthy with a bit of grit, but it's just accented by a longly-kilned grain base with specialty malts adding dry bitterness and flavors of cocoa powder, oats, and blackberry. The hops almost have a rhubarb tanginess to them, but they're so far removed from the mainstay maltiness. Hints of espresso and chicory. Solid porter flavor.

The body is absolutely dreamy; silky with great body and a smooth wetness that gets patched up with some sporadic grainy mealiness. That's right, if you hold in on the tongue long enough, you can feel some texture. The levels of carbonation are low enough to enjoy the exquisite body and feel of this beer.

This is quite damn good. Not the cheapest bomber, at $8.99 a pop, but I didn't mind swinging it, after the fact. Not something I'll go to again anytime soon, but that's a barrier that the retail price put in place. The beer is certainly good enough to revisit, and again and again.
