Bottle from batch 2 (green cap) poured into my Southampton RIS Snifter.

A: Black with a two finger dark tan head that receded to a thin ring of film around the glass.

S: The nose is full of bourbon like qualities from the barrel aging; tons of vanilla, oak, and spicy bourbon. Faint notes of bakers chocolate are also noticeable.

T: The front of the mouth is filled with oats, caramel, faint toffee notes and bitter dark chocolate; these flavors push forward toward the middle of the mouth and are rounded out with notes of vanilla and oak out the back.

M: Lightly carbonation and a full body. Quite smooth, as expected from the oatmeal.

O: This is a fine example of a barrel aged Imperial Stout. The taste is on point. The only flaw (if you even want to call it a flaw) is the overwhelming barrel quality that dominates the nose. Definitely worth the price tag. I may even want to snag a few more of these to age.

Cap is yellow or gold... Pretty basic looking cap so I have no idea if this is a fake bottle or what the deal is. No other freshness dating.

A= The pour is very similar to the regular Boris only the head seems to stick around a tad bit longer. A nice deep black color with a thin brown head on it that falls to a lively ring around the glass.

S= The smell on this one if totally dominate barrel odor. Tons of oak and vanilla in it I can actually make out some barrel aromas from a ways away from the glass. Nice malty sweetness that actually sort of reminds me of butterscoth or toffee in the nose.

T= The regular Boris I found to be lacking a bit of complexity. A great beer but not at the outstanding level some RIS can be. This on the other hand takes it and makes a great basic RIS among the elite in complexity. Tons of the familiar barrel notes in it with vanilla, oak, toffee, caramel, butterscotch, bourbon, ect. as well as the super smooth roasty flavor of the regualar Boris.

M= Rich and velvety. Luxury.

O= This takes what is a great RIS in Boris and moves it to the elite class. Barrel aging doesn't always work. Boris is just complex enough to make it work perfectly. Barrel aging this beer didn't muddle a bunch of flavors but enhanced them. I'm usually not one to do crazy about barrel aging but this is a fine example of it being done right.

22oz bottle. Not sure on the age, but this has a green cap. Poured into a Boulevard tulip.

A: Pours PITCH black. Thin quarter finger of dark tan head. Dissapates fairly quickly. Wow, laces the glass thickly. Lots of proteins from the oats. Definitely some alcohol feet.

S: Smells really nice. I get lots of milk and dark chocolate on this guy. I don't get over powering barrel notes, but there is some vanilla for sure.

T: Dark chocolate bitterness up front. Not as creamy as I was expecting with oatmeal. I get some toffee notes. Some caramel. A touch of roast coffee, but not a lot. Nice dry finish.

M: Full bodied stout. Nice carbonation.

22oz bomber sent from schwaeh (thanks man) poured into a tall nonic.

A: Pours very dark, opaque, and viscous, with a significant amount of dark brown head...good carbonation visible on the glass.

S: Excellent nose, bourbon and vanilla are at the forefront, with caramel and dark fruit sweetness combined with oatmeal notes, lots of decadent dark chocolate cake, hints of booze.

T: Bourbon and vanilla, hints of oak, chocolate and coffee, fudge, molasses, booze, a light roasted bitterness, dark caramel.

MF: Viscous and full, sticky and creamy, with a good amount of carbonation.

O: Its a touch hot right now, but completely manageable and extremely enjoyable. Good representation of the style.
