Poured from a 22oz bottle into a duvel glass

A: pours a very deep dark brown almost black with half a finger of mocha coffe colored head that dissapates quickly and leaves some spots of lacing.

S: loads of roasty espresso with a mocha touch, j set neath the roasty notes I get a nice layer if piney hops, very nice, very toasty coffee like aroma overall, smells delicious.

T: much like the nose loads of mocha like roasty espresso and a nice bite of bitter piney hops in there with the roast... This is very well rounded and incredibly delicious.

M: medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation, the alcohol is well hidden as this is nice and drinkable.

O: this is a very well rounded black ipa, roasty espresso notes dominate but are complimented nicley with piney hops o create a very well rounded very delicious overall brew... Really enjoyed this one.

Nearly black. Opaque. Moderate tan head with dense lacing.

Explosive juicy scent on the pour. In the glass, roasted malt and smoke are the predominant scents.

First few sips remind me more of a stout than an IPA. Carmel and roasted malt are up front with a lingering bitterness. Actually takes on the characteristics of an IPA as it warms, with a juicy crispness.

Very smooth with lite carbonation. The best of a DIPA or stout.

Nice beer. The smokiness of the smell may have a too strong effect on the beer overall, but it is certainly unique. Something I'd want to try again.
