Notes/Commercial Description:
American hops dominate this Rye I.P.A, creating an assertive citrus and passion fruit character. An old-world flavor from rye malt adds the perfect compliment to Goose Juice’s big, satisfying hop flavor and aroma. Originally home-brewed by our beloved brewer Goose, its wonderful combination of flavors inspired us to brew this specialty I.P.A.

22 FL. OZ bottle
Served in an oversized wine glass

L - It is deep amber, almost rust colored. It has a nice, rocky, two inches of beige head that leaves plenty of lacing on the side of the glass.

S - It smells perfect for the style. I get a nice balance of spicy rye and citrus from the hops.

T - The taste is just as great as the smell. The rye and citrus flavors compliment each other nicely. This is not an in your face hop bomb, but a well crafted ipa that is smooth and flavorful without beating your taste buds into submission.

M - Silky smooth with a medium feel.

O - I am impressed by this beer. This is the first IPA that I have tried from Hoppin' Frog. I am almost convinced that they can do no wrong. They are just a little pricy compared to other great Ohio beers.

Pours a large fluffy creamy 1+ finger head that fades pretty slowly, nice soapy lacing as well, a hazy reddish orange beer.

Nose pretty much what I expected, some spicy rye out front with the spicy grassy hops, bit earthy and herbal notes, with candied orange peel as well, and touch of a citrus note. That leads to sweet malts, candy like, caramel and notes of toffee, with a touch of a fruity rye component as well.

Taste brings more malty sweetness, caramel and candy syrupy out front, with a little sweetness and bready grainy notes. Then into rye, a candy rye flavor, with a mild spicy note and some mild fruity rye characters as well. Into hops, with a touch of a citrus fruity note, some candied orange peel, a mild spicy hop with some earthiness to it as well. Fair bitterness that ramps a bit on the finish. Finish attempts to dry but is still sticky and mildly sweet even a touch syrupy, bit more candy malts, caramel, touch of spicy rye, some spicy earthy hops, and a little fruitiness lingering.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall meh, it's a basic malt forward caramel syrupy sweet rye IPA, with at least decent rye, but the sweet malts and nothing special by way of hops, this is a fairly boring beer that I would probably not get again.
