Pours with the color of dark cola. The head is fluffy and tan, but dissipates rather quickly.

Smell is dominated by smokey dark grain. Mild bitterness.

Taste is similiar to the nose with smokeyness making an impact. There is also a milk sweetness, and a touch of brown sugar. Malt does offer a sense of balance. Finish has an unusual sourness that seems to be an off flavor that really ruins things.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. There is a bit of diacetyl butteryness.

Overall not a bad beer, but not very exciting either. I won't be seeking this one out.

look: 3 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 3

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with no real head formation beyond some sporadic bubbles.

Smell: Dark, grainy malts with a slight note of fruit and some minor sweetish hints.

Taste: Dark malts provide modest tastes of chocolate and dark caramel with an overall light sweetness. A touch fruity. Hint of earthy molasses. Faint floral and spicy hops with a muted bitterness. Finishes dry with a light roastiness.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: An almost acceptable schwarzbier, though I am a bit wary regarding this "artificial sweetener" listed under ingredients.

From chilled 0.5 L can into warmed pokal, this beer shows dark ruby-brown to black body with semi-persistent pearly head. Following the dark colour and solid head, one would expect typically aromatic malty-caramel smell, but the smell turns out to be faint and surprisingly weak.
On a first sip tastes really good, malty and roasted, with some smoke, but after that leaves somehow dull aftertaste in mouth.
Maybe I expected too much of Krušovice's beer, but this one is a bit of disappointment to me: too average, with nothing special to be remembered of.

Pours out dark brown with a nice tanned two finger head that fades pretty quickly, with medium carbonation and leaves little lacing. At first a caught a whiff of barnyard but it mellowed out to a coffee and chocolate smell. It had a light, watery mouth feel with a burnt coffee, chocolate taste and a hint of metallic. Overall, I probably wouldn't buy again.

.5L, best before 11/12/11.

Pours a clear, reddish brown hue. Small, compact head, average retention and very little lacing.

The aroma has some nice coffee notes to it, along with general maltiness.

The flavor is a bit boring, with just a touch of near-roasted malt, coupled with some crusty bread. Thin overall. The mouthfeel seems watered down, the carbonation fizzy rather than creamy.

Mediocre for a Schwarzbier, but drinkable.

Pours a cola-like dark with tan bubbly head that sticks to the glass with little gobs of lace.

Smells of musk and hops. Not as malty as I'd expect. Hops up front with a bit of brown sugar.

Taste is mild and nice. Bits of caramel and hops.

Mouthfeel is quite thin and a bit bitter.

Drinkability is fine but I wouldn't go searching for this one unless you hadn't tried many schwarzbiers.

I poured this hard to look up beer into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer was almost black and had a nice tan head that went away pretty fast. I could not really smell this beer. It was kinda bland to me. Actually he taste was the same...kinda bland. It was not a bad beer but it was nothing that really jumped me either. It was kinda like a watered down porter best I can describ it. I think I will not buy again.

look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 2.5

A:Dark brown (almost black) color. There is an average sized off-white head on top.
S:The smell is very nice. There is some burnt caramel smell to it along with a malty aroma. Also there is a little bit of tartness and raisin in the smell, too.
T:The taste is a little watered down tasting. There is some roasted malts in the middle of the palete but without any of the harshness. A little bit of caramel flavor is in it. Also there is a flavor that I think might be the artifical sweetner, but it does taste a little odd.
MF:The beer is very light on the palate but the low amount of carbonation gives it somewhat of a smooth feeling.
D:Did find it weird that one the back of the bottle it says there is artificial sweetner. I've heard of people talk about using it before but never tried any beers with it in it. Overall it's an okay beer, but the flavor isn't great so I wouldn't drink to many of these.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 3

Appearance
Pours out a dark cola brown with a small head that has no lasting power nor leaves any lacing

Smell
Some chocolate, cookie malts, slight smokiness

Taste & Mouthfeel
Sweet and bacony, though overall a weak flavor; thin body with good carbonation; some artificial sweetness; no real aftertaste

Overall
I was pretty underwhelmed by this, although I recall enjoying the tap version much more.

A: Pours a dark brown with marble and amber ruby tint. Not much of a head on this one but it was a creamy caramel color with only slight lacing.

S: There was not any huge amount of aroma that stuck out and grabbed me by the nose hairs. Very subtle roasted chocolate or light cocoa powder seemed to be the most prevalent smell. Very small amount of pepper and dark malt was thrown in but overall very mild.

T: Light and subtle chocolate taste with little to no bitterness. Despite the sweet toasted malt that hits the tongue very quickly it is a overall a crisp and clean tasting beer with hints of caramel. All in all, the taste seemed to thin though.

M: Light-medium body and the same goes for the carbonation. Overall while balanced, just too light.

D: Very easy to drink but nothing that makes your head turn. It is simple and it was on sale about a block away so overall it was a good deal.

pours out a dark garnet colour, with a big frothy head which leaves plenty of lace. cocoa aroma with a bit of burnt sugar. bitter and charred malt flavours...a bit of smoke with a very lightly hopped finish. nice enough for a such a low ABV schwarzbier. light body and a somewhat strange mouthfeel...refreshing enough with a decent amount of character and flavour. sessionable to be sure...i wonder if it's marketed as a light beer in europe? drinkability is good if you like your schwarzbiers on the really light side.

on the disturbing side...the back label states the ingredients as water, malt, hops and ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER! and...."flavoured imported dark beer". this explains the low ABV and strange mouthfeel. i'm afraid this is the michelob ultra of the czech republic. but at least it has a lot of flavour....artificial or otherwise.

Boy, is this one a disappointment. I'd had plenty of Schwarzbier when over in Berlin (Markischer Landman comes to mind) and I could have sworn they had more kick than this. This beer pours beautifully (nice head) and looks impressive (deep rich ruby), but bottom line... it's just plain watery. What little notes there are, are lost in the thinness. And 3.8% ABV just don't cut it. Isn't this what they call, in the States, "Sunday beer"? Not for me!

Deep brown, Coke looking brew with a good 2" rocky ran head.

Musty aroma filled with malt. Perhaps a touch of brown sugar, but pretty boring.

Almost a bock like flavour. Some brown sugar and malt.

Mouthfeel is excessively carbonated and a bit thin.

Just doesnt do it for me. Too much carbonation to make it an easy drinker. Not bad... just OK.

Never even heard of this beer until my wife brought it home.

Pilsner glass pour with a cola brown color and a small off-white head. Roasted malts, light pear and a slight coffee aroma. Dark malty taste with some campfire smoke in there as well and some light bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery, thin mouthfeel. Drinkability is somewhat higher though the taste, for me, would get tiresome quickly.

Overall it was nice to try this gold medal Prague beer though I am sure this brew is much better directly at the source.

S: roasted malt, coffee

A: black w/ tan head

T: light, nice roasted/coffee flavor, creamy mouthfeel, light body, metallic (copper) note on finish

O: great example of a black lager, nice malt flavor with a light body. very easy to drink, would be a good session bier even though its dark in color.

This is indeed a very light Schwarzbier.
Poured an almost black, dark coffee shade with an impressive tan head of small bubbles that seems to stay and stay, leaving lots of lacing as you tilt back the brew.

Aromas are very light and faint...almost non-existent. A little peat and dark roasted coffee with no sweetness to my nose at all.

Taste is also pretty light and one-dimensional. Dark, dry roasted, almost burnt coffee, again with no sweetness making the brew much drier than you would expect for an under 4% ABV. A little woodiness...or maybe 'branchiness' comes through as it warms along with a bit of grass.

Very light and refreshing but sort of the BMC of Schwarzbiers

Purchased at the Sainsbury's, at 1.29 quid, which, I suppose, might be twice as much as I'd pay in the Czech Republic. But given my nice experience drinking Krusovice's beers on draught in Prague, I was happy to buy it w/o a second thought. BB 25/11/2007, served chilled in a stright imperial pint glass.

A: a well-lasting, fluffy beige head sits on top of a lively-carbonated dark mehogany colour.
S: a sweet edge of caramelised brown sugar and caramel-coated roasted chestnuts dominates the nose, while a very light tinge of lager-sourness stays underneath. Overall the aroma is a bit too sweet and simplistic, but not un-nice.
T: slightly metallic upfront, followed by the sweet edge of lightly-roasted Munich malts, Chinese grass-jelly, caramel, and sour-sweet semi-roasty nuttiness, while the sour edge as of overripe plums is at presence but almost too muted to provide a balance. The finish is quite clean w/o much aftertaste, apart from a mildly sour-sweet maltiness, nuttiness, and kidney-bean-paste in the end.
M&D: the carbonation remains refreshing (slightly on the gassy side) and the body light (read "thin-ish"), but somehow the flavour is too timid to make a delicious pint and the bitterness almost absent to make it a more-ish drink. I'd love to see how the draught version goes, but this bottle simply is unconvincing.

Pours dark brown, a ruby hue as light comes through. As I looked at it, I was sure it was cola. Same tan head as Coke.

Very nice nose, tradition of german schwarzbier. Fruity hops, sweet complex malts.

First taste is rather dry malts, then sweetness just rolls. A bit of an odd transition. Full sweetness, just a hint of hops late...wow, where did that hops from the nose go. A bit too sweet for this style. Very clunky beer. Too sweet.
