Bought at ICA grocery store in Visby, Gotland, Sweden.

Pours a very dark ruby brown with 2 cm dark tan head.

Smells very malty sweet, with wet grain, grass and a touch of burnt popcorn.

Very smooth mouthfeel--ever-so-slightly thick and with low carbonation.

The taste is an immediate dose of roasted malt, albeit very toned-down (I have a feeling this is because this is the 3.5% version for the Swedish market outside of Systembolaget stores), a touch of lemon. Overall, not as sweet as it smells. The aftertaste is very much unsweetened cocoa.

Overall, not bad, but I think I'd prefer the full-on Systembolaget version.

Had this beer on board the SP Leipzig a steamship on the Elbe River. It comes as a dark brown almost black with a nice three finger head that lasts all the way with nice lacing in the glass.
It smells of dark roasted malts with a hint of coffee but that may have been because the other passengers were having their afternoon coffee and kuchen and the whole galley smelled of coffee. This beer tastes of dark roasted malts with a hint of sweetness at first. It has a full body that goes down well although it does finish a bit bitter and dry. A nice beer to have with a meal.

Appearance: Very dark brown, almost black; huge cream colored head

Aroma: Roasted malt; dried fruit; hint of molasses

Taste: Juicy roasted malt start; slightly bitter mid; watery, smooth finish; a refreshing session beer

On tap at a Czech restaurant in town.

Dark blacks and brown edges with about a finger of white foam and good retention as well as some lacing. Aromas of toasted malts, bordering on burnt and smoky. Tastes of toasted malts with a semi-burnt character. Hops are present with a citrus bite. Medium mouthfeel with crisp, high carbonation. Very drinkable with such low ABV.

A: Very dark red / brown. Barely opaque.

S: No strong smell. Very clean.

T: First is an odd, perhaps hoppy character that is not bad at all, just odd. Next the malt washes that away and you are left with a nice smoky presence.

MF: Great for a lager.

D: Very much. A great example that is not at all a cookie-cutter schwarzbier.

Krusovice (dark beer) brewed and bottled by Kralovsky Pivovar Krusovice (czech)

upon opening the pint .09 bottle the immediate nose to the brew was that of sweet malts and slight coffee notes.

i was surprised by the extremely dark pour and the almost nonexistant off white head.

the beers initial tastes were that of sweet, gently toasted malts, slight cherry notes and rootbeer were detected also.

the bottle drank very smooth, i mean very smooth. it came as no surprise that the brew only weighed in at 3.8% (the ABV was not printed on the bottle, i had to research the brewerys website krusovice.cz)

an extremely drinkable dark lager, with tasty malts and a subtle sweet finish.

A: Dark brown/ruby with a dark tan head.
S: Caramel, very faint hint of smoke.
T: Caramel and a hint of smoke. Almost no bitterness, and a short after taste of honey and caramelised sugar. Not fizzy, almost flat, no trace of alcohol in the taste. This weaker kind of beer is predominately weaker kinds of strong euro lager. Some of the czek brands brewed for the swedish market and some swedish brands imitating weissbier, ale and porter are quite nice, but still substitutes and not the real thing. Good if you try to keep an eye on that waist line or your consumption of alcoholic beverages.

A "Böhmischen Schwarzbier" specially brewed by Královsky Pivovar for the Swedish market.

A beer sold in a Swedish store other than "Systembolaget" may have max 3.5% alcohol in it.

Bottle from a local supermarket (Hemköp), tried it on April 22, 2006.

Verk dark red, beautiful ruby color.
Big lasting brown head.
Roasted fresh scent.
A bit thin mouthfeel, probably from the low alcohol.
Sort of acid taste, probably from the soft water combined with dark malts. Also burnt and roasted taste.
Slightly roasted after taste.

For a low alcohol beer available in stores this is excellent stuff!

NB: The reviewed beer is 3.5% abv, brewed for the Swedish market.

The colour is black; the large foam sinks down to a firm finger thick compact head.

The smell is a bit roasted, bitter with a touch of butter. It is not very strong.

The carbonation is just right, lots of small bubbles but not too strong.

The taste is soft with a fine bitterness and lots of roasted malt, the body is quite light. The creaminess reminds me a lot of a mild ale. At times, it is balancing on the edge of being watery. The aftertaste is bitter with notes of both aroma and bitter hops (sweet almonds), balanced by a roasted, earthy taste of malt.

A very drinkable and well crafted beer.
