A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a golden orange topped by a dense finger of slightly rocky white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of oak, caramel, orchard fruits, apricots, and a touch of vanilla
T: Taste is slightly spicy up front before a huge smack of toasty oak, caramel, and vanilla. Nice orchard fruits and hints of phenols in the middle while the apricot hides in the background. On the swallow there's more orchard fruits and spice before the barrel comes around again with more toasted oak, caramel, and vanilla along with a slight lingering apricot.
M: This beer is fairly big and thick on the palate. Carbonation is effervescent but barely so while the beer has a drying finish due to the abv.
O: Overall there's an impressive amount of barrel in this beer. It has good flavors and complexity but the barrel is surprisingly forward and in some ways overshadows what tastes like a well crafted tripel. It's really nice and worth a try if this one comes back around.

Has a nice haze to it, not a whole lot of head.
Are we sure this is beer, and not bourbon?! Probably the most prevalent bourbon notes I've ever had in a BA beer. Heavy bourbon on the nose and on the taste, although the apricot comes through in the taste more so than the nose. And it literally feels like you're drinking a bourbon, minus the burn of alcohol, which despite the good buzz it brings, there is almost zero trace of alcohol. Overall, one of the best barrel aged beers I've ever had. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on it, you'll be drinking liquid gold.
