From notes. Open during a recent tasting. 2011 bottle. Forgot to write bottle number.
A- Pours a pitch black with a small mocha head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing.
S- Bourbon upfront followed by oak, vanilla, plumb, fig, dark chocolate, roasted malt, burnt caramel and a hint of coffee.
T- Again lots of bourbon with oak, subtle vanilla bean, dark chocolate, roasted malt and burnt caramel.
M- Medium carbonation with a thin body, especially for a stout. Has some heat the finish. Could use a bit more body.
O- After having several Eclipses, I'm ready to say that I'm not willing to throw another $30 for any of the variations. Not a bad beer, but nothing really memorable and a middle of the road BA stout IMO.
