Bottle 3076 of the 2011 Batch.
Beer poured into over-sized snifter with no head whatsoever. Smell is primarily a very pleasant bourbon smell though it sort of hits the back of my nostrils making me pull back if I whiff too strongly.
The taste is unlike most bourbon barrel beers I've had. The bourbon is almost a footnote with the flavor of the beer taking center stage. Definitely more complex flavor bourbon stouts, slight hint of smoke, vanilla and oak. This goes down smooth. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 in flavor is a weird aftertaste that I can leave with but would appreciate more if it wasn't there.
Mouthfeel is a bit light, but not by too much to detract me from loving this beer.
This is a tremendous brew, incredible in a lot of ways. I appreciate the way the bourbon lays in the background and the beer shines through. The complexity of flavor here is impressive. Can't wait to try the other variations.
