Our Farmhouse Ale is a saison brewed in the tradition of Wallonian beer, with no spices and a low finishing gravity. Originating in the farms of Wallonia, and intended as a ‘restorative’ for farm hands and coal miners, the focus is on yeast derived flavors and a distinctly ‘Belgian’ profile. Definitely not a wit or wheat beer; it’s dry, with slight acidity, and definitely thirst quenching.

Poppin' fresh yellow color, haze apparent, the head was pristinely white and 1/2". Aroma wasn't really farmhousey. . . made me wonder if I had a cold or something.

And yet the yeast came up hard on the taste, no spice rack, just phenolic as fudge. Highly carbonated, hops and bitterness high for style but not a problem. Seems like a clean saison that is still pungent on the yeast but light on the spice rack and funk.

Pours a finger of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is floral and dry grain.
The taste is mild honey sweet with flowers. Nice.
The texture is soft.
It's a good mild ale.

City Beer Store. Poured straw-colored and cloudy with a small white head. The aroma is fresh grain with a twang of lemon tartness. There's also sugar cane and a clean Dupont-ish saison yeast. The taste is medium try with a tart undertone. The malt flavor is tasty and there seems to be a touch of wheat spice. Mild chalkiness in the finish. Medium carbonation, perhaps a bit low for the style. A decent enough saison, but it seems sorta like a knockoff Dupont-family saison. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. It's just not bringing anything new to the table.

pour is a tepid moderately hazed pale golden color with a tight white head. The nose is subtle, a touch on the sweet end, light farmhouse yeast, lemon, faint white pepper, far amount of floral and herbal hops. The taste is also assertively hopped, light farmhouse yeast and the sweetness is now more from the hops. Faint pepper and floral herbal hop. Almost no bitterness on a lightly carbonated and juicy finish. A touch sweet, light carb, and not quite dry enough but still balanced and very drinkable.

A: poured into a tulip glass at Toronado, it pours a beautiful slightly hazy golden yellow color with a thin, barely there head. No carbonation, no lacing.

S: the nose is nice and light, soft bready notes, yeasts, rotting apples, grains. It is a nice clean and simple nose, with just a touch of sweet.

T: The flavors are like the nose - grainy malts, light yeasts, some haylike flavors, a good earthy touch. Slightly and very lightly sweet. Apples, lemons and almost a touch of sour.

M&O: It's a by fizzy, small high carbonation that lifts up the lighter body of this beer. It has a bit of a dry finish. Overall is a very nice, drinkable, refreshing and clean beer. It's one I could drink and drink.

On tap at Toronado. My notes were not the best on this one, I apologize.

Appearance – A slight hazy yellow, lots of white head, good lacing.

Smell – Lots of peppery spices and yeast. Slight barnyard must and funk, very little citrus.

Taste – Bland from the start. There is really no other way to put it. There is no “pop” to this beer. The yeast I feel is pretty prominent, when I wish the funk or citrus notes would be. There is some lemon zest, white pepper, and caramel.

Mouthfeel – Medium to lighter bodied, sprightly carbonation, finishes dry at least.

Overall – A relatively lackluster saison. Nothing was offensive, but nothing stood out.

Bright yellow color, some slight haze, plentiful virgin white head to it. Aroma was avoiding my detectability levels.

Nice pungent yeast taste, appreciate how clean, yet flavorful this is, kept all the disliked spices out of this one, seemingly just for me. A greater amount of bitterness and bite from this one than your average saison. Pretty drinkable, plenty carbonated. Flavor seems to be predominantly yeast driven.

If you like your saisons flavorful, yet avoiding many of the traditional yeast flavors from Belgium, this seems like a good choice, pretty simplistic and straightforward without any of that horse blanket jive going on.
