I had this on-tap at Capone's during Philly beer week. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark brown color with some red showing up when the light hits the beer. There is a layer of fluffy off white head with great retention.

Smell: Very mild overall with some malt sweetness. The smell is a bit medicinal and not particularly pleasant overall.

Taste: Sweet malt with a tart note and some medicine/band aid type flavors. I'm getting a weird pepper like spice along with a bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with fluffy carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I'm not sure if I just don't like this beer or if this wasn't what they were aiming for. I'd try another just because I enjoyed everything else I've had from this brewery.

Pours deep brown with hints of red. 1/2 inch head, mild lace.

Chocolate, slight caramel and a bit of floral hops I
In the nose.

Smooth chocolate, malted barley, grass and floral hops combine for a smooth, rich taste. Very nice, moderate body.

Very very nice brown ale. If you find it on tap, give it a go!

A- pours a cloudy brown-black into a plastic picnic cup. Not much head-retention. But the deep chestnut color is very inviting.

A- Full disclosure : I have a fairly insensitive sense of smell. Ipicked up whiffs of cocoa and some sweet malt. Nothing stellar.

T- The temperature was spot-on for how I like my cask beers; though that's likely too cool for the purists. Plenty of chewy malts source most of the sweetness followed by a portion of more intense caramel malts. There's a very gentle roast that improves the flavour profile, w/o ever becoming a challenge to the drinker. Eventually the beer develops a complexity of flavor s from dark fruit and smokey chocolate motes. But none of this is sharp or so intense as to be overwhelming. Most folks might even miss it.

M- Along with being served at the absolute ideal temperature,
the mouthfeel contributes to the high drinkability. Creamy, but not sticky or heavy. This beer gives you something to chew on while.

poured from firkin into taster at fox and hound

Pours a chestnut brown color with a crop of tanned head on top. Dissolves into some spotty lacing with little retention.

Nutty and malty in the nose with some hints of chocolate and caramel. Soft residual sweetness and light roasty notes.

A bit sweet up front with nutty tones and chestnuts. Some chocolate in the malt with some soft warmth and caramel sweetness. Very bready towards the back end, which finishes pretty clean.

Medium body, lighter carbonation, creamy and slick on the tongue. A pretty solid brown ale, but it doesn't quite stack up to most of the other beers I've had from them.
