A: Black with garnet highlights around the edge. A long lasting brown head made of creamy bubbles.

S: Strong chocolate aroma with a moderately-strong caramel malt sweetness. A medium oak character bringing medium vanilla with a fairly strong whisky-like booziness.

T: A good deal of chocolat, roast, plums and prunes with a strong caramel sweetness. The balance is strongly towards the sweet side with a sweet finish. Medium-strong oak and vanilla flavors.

M: Full bodied with a medium level of carbonation. Substantial warmth.

O: A rich flavor stout with a a fair amount of alcohol presence balanced by malt sweetness.

Thanks, VaTechHopHead!

Very dark brown, nearly black in color, without a lot of visible carbonation and not much head. Eventually, however, this does leave sticky spots and sheets of lacing down the glass.

Upon first whiff, I can tell this is probably going to be the weakest of the bunch when it comes to FiftyFifty's barrel-aged stouts. The corn/cheap whiskey element is pervasive, with an unchecked abrasiveness not typically found in a high-quality barrel-aged stout. There's elements of roast and chocolate underneath, but they're hidden. Not particularly appealing, though not bad.

The flavor isn't nearly as complex, layered, and decadent as other variations in this series. The corn whiskey element is great here, though not particularly harsh. It just tastes cheaper and of less quality than the other variants. Some roast and mild chocolate are detectable.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Drinkable, sure, but not great nor worth the price tag.

Looks like an imperial stout, dark brown and black, this one seemed of an infantile amount lighter than the others. Usual wood and roast aroma, this one didn't impart nearly as much chocolate as say, EC20 does. Booziness came out a little more. Probably my least favorite aroma of any Eclipse beer.

Taste was a litte boozier than the others, beer seemed a little thinner. Vanilla and caramel notes. Roast was there, a little bitter. A sweetness that surpasses even the Rittenhouse version, which up to this point, was the sweetest of Eclipse beers IMHO. I don't get as much smoke/charred character on this one as the other Eclipse beers. Mouthfeel remains warm, not as much absorbtion of the alcohol. The roast and the chocolate are still there, but they remain in the background as the corn barrel seems to be driving this one. Carbonation is mild, allows for a creamier, smoother experience, but you just can't get passed the bitterness and heat without as prominent of flavors underlying it. You start to get adjusted to it a few ounces in. Still a very good beer, but given its massive rarity and whatnot, I think there are several better options of Eclipse to look into instead.

A big nose of corn whiskey. Lacey on black body. Smooth, drinker honeyish, syrupy.Chocolate (really cocoa), some burnt malt. Boozy a bit. Not bad and decent drinkability.Just an average imperial stout overall. Drying, a bit more so than the others I have had in the series.Bottle from Premier split with Liam.

650 mL bottle poured into an Eclipse snifter. 2012 bottle.

Appearance - Murky black with transparent edges. Not much of a head. Wispy surface.

Smell - Chocolatey with a sustained bourbon character. Lots of sharp alcohol, maybe even that raw corn whiskey aroma, but I could be making that up because I know it's corn whiskey. Tough to discern.

Taste - Lots of harsh whiskey flavor. Harsh is a harsh term. It's still a nice barrel character. Sustains the corn whiskey character throughout, with just a bit of a sting in the back end. Chocolate, of course.

Mouthfeel - Slick and creamier than the base beer. Medium carbonation. Sweet and barrel booze finish.

Overall - Interesting barrel character for sure, but not the most impressive.

A-lack in the glass, one finger tan head.

S-Bourbon, roasted and burnt malt are the main flavors.

T-Bourbon, roasted and burnt malt. Slight coffee as well.

M-Medium bodied, slightly watery and not much carbonation.

O-Had side by side with the Bernheim Wheat, this was clearly the inferior one. Still a good beer but not worth the price tag.

22 oz bomber courtesy of fthomasl pours a very dark brown color...a few highlights around the edges. Moderate retention and nice lace.

Nose is sweet malt, dusky chocolate and light fruit. Lots of alcohol...wood is light. Pretty balanced between the various stout aromas you typically get. I just got back from Tennessee and tasted some corn whiskey (aka moonshine) and I definitely get a little bit of that in there.

The heat tastes more like an 11%'er...the moonshine really 'shines so to speak, pun intended. The base beer shows the same balance I found in the aroma....nice fruit, chocolate and molasses flavors. Good beer..but for the price, there are probably some better values out there.
