My buddy was stationed and Va Beach and raved about this place. He actually brought me some beer up when he came to visit. My fiance and i went to Va Beach for a DMB show and this was placed into our trip as ihad to see this place.

Walked in and was truly amazed with the selection of microbrews that they had. They also had a fine selection of wines that my fiance perused.

A great guy named Kevin (who works there) found me perusing and we striked up a good convo about some beers i should buy.

Service was awesome and Kevin seemed to know everything about each beer that was there. I love this place. Please think about opening one up in Harrisburg. I will gladly manage

Quality: The beers available are the best that the state of Virginia will allow within it's borders.

Service: Kevin offers a hand to those who are clueless as I was about a year ago at this time. If I have a question, he answers and if he doesn't know it he'll find out.

Selection: Best selection that I've seen in Hampton Roads. A section devoted strictly to UK beers, another for Belgian Style and then three for domestic brews. No macro's here, just craft deliciousness.

Value: About $0.50 more per bottle than the other guys here in town.

They have an awesome selection, they tell you what they have on the shelves and they're willing to hold a bottle or two so you can make it down there on your own time and not just get lucky. Love 'em!

Visited here on a deployment to the area in June '07. I must say I was very favorably impressed by their beer selection, especially in the Belgian/Flemish ale area. Kevin was extremely personable both times I visited, sharing his impressions and thoughts of various beers, as well as helping direct the people I brought with me towards beers that would be to their tastes. I believe his assessments were accurate--the ones I helped with, I agreed completely with his suggestions. The man knows his brews!

I can't recommend the Grape and Gourmet more highly. Thanks, Kevin!

Great shop that is constantly expanding their selection. 250 brews and shooting for 300 soon. This is the place to go for your microbrew needs in the Virginia Beach area, with more to choose from than any of the other shops or grocers in town. Great service overall, and Kevin is the resident beer expert and will be able to answer any questions that may arise during your visit. Bottles are sold as singles, which is nice when it comes to trying singles. They hold tastings every Thursday evening. Easily recommended.

Grape and Gormet is a wonderful spot. They have a huge selection of wine and beer, but I mainly go for the beer. Kevin, the owner of the store, is very helpful and knowlegable about all things beer. The atmosphere is great, the selection is outstanding and the service is top notch. I know many peopl ein the area think the same way and I am sure that is why his customer base is so big. They have tastings once a week I think and a few special tastings on many of the weekends. Great place. Check it out.

I make monthly visits to this store. Each month I grab a sixer of round the world beers and every time is a treat. The staff is extremely cheerful and polite. Then again, who wouldn't be cheerful when you get to work around beer and wine all day. What a life. Kevin the owner is always friendly and very helpful. This guys knows everything and is always willing to share his knowledge and love of beer with anyone. Their selection is outstanding and although they are a bit pricey the also have some really great values in there as well. I highly recommend you give it a try.

Easily the best bottle shop in the Hampton Roads area. If it were a little closer to me, I'd be in there every week. Owners Kevin and Deb are very friendly and know their stuff. They are very responsive on social media with new arrivals and requests for holds.

My favorite place to buy beer. Great selection. Kevin is very knowledgeable and will give an honest opinion.

Case discounts and Thursday night tastings (which will include rare and expensive beers such as 2 Turtle Doves) are outstanding.

Kevin fights for better distribution and is very loyal to dedicated customers. They also have a great wine selection.

The only thing that would make this a better beer store is a growler station like the one at Charleston Beer Exchange. Otherwise great product, honest service, and good prices.

A: This place is awesome. I buy most of my beers through them, because they carry such a large variety of beers (and wines). They have beer and wine tastings *weekly* and it's always a great time. It's a real "mom and pop shop" which I think is cool.

Q: They always take care to place their beers and wines on shelves (except some of the bulk cases that sell out fast), and don't mind if you take them out of the 4 or 6 packs to make your own. You can tell they really care about their products. They can get many of the quality craft beers that I can't find anywhere else.

Serv: They have great service. They always greet me when I enter, and are always ready to let me know when a certain beer is coming out, etc. They know a lot about breweries and have the latest news as well. One important thing, is that they are honest. They will tell you whether a beer is good or bad, but won't judge you on what you choose to buy. This is important, in the event that you want to try one of the bad beers anyway.

Sel: They have a great selection of everything. What I like, is that sometimes I can get seasonal beers from past seasons. They also take care in posting ratings and info tags for beers so you can make a more informed decision. One key thing to mention, is that in addition to wine, they also carry a good selection of mead and cider. It's rare to find a place that carries these.

(Food): They do carry an assortment of cheeses, chocolates, etc but I don't think it's fair to rate them on this because their selection is more of a novelty that you can buy if you're putting together a gift or something.

Value: I've noticed that their prices are cheaper on some things, and more expensive on others. Mostly the wine is more expensive. It's my opinion, that value is not just a ratio of goods vs price, but the service and experience that you get from the establishment as well.

First things first, the name...why can't we throw in something like Grape, Grain, and Gourmet. Fine Wine and Ales, or Fruit and Funk of Belgian Style Brews. I understand this is a wine store, but the beer selection not only rivaled the wine selection but pretty much stole the show. Check out the website, Kevin the store owner and operator has done a great job of selecting the best of the best. There's a Total Wine and More down a couple exits from Grape and Gourmet. Don't make the same mistake and go to both, and the Farm Fresh that's listed in the database as an A minus doesn't even stock a selection like they used to so somebody better keep some tabs on these stores living in the Virginia Beach area. Wide selection of brews while I was visiting a rep from B United and a family member of the Schneider (Aventinus) Braurei was in house before heading off to a local beer bar for a beer dinner. I left the store with Smuttynose Imperial Porter (the best since Perkuno's), both versions of Hopfen Weisse, Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Fresh Hop, and many more fine brews. Kevin and staff were great for both beer knowledge and conversation, enjoyed my short trip to the store and I can't recommend it enough. World class beer selection that I'm glad I made the gamble to visit.

Stopped in yesterday while visiting Virginia Beach. Located in a strip mall, this place is a little hard to find if you aren't careful. I got directions from the proprietress or I would not have found it. I was greeted by her(can't remember her name) and Kevin, the proprietor. While they have a large amount of wine, the beer section has only been in place for two years, and according to Kevin, the beer specialist of the pair, it should continue to grow. One can only hope. Logically organized with a large selection of American micros, Belgians, European imports. I found lots of Stone, Vertical Epic, XII, Ruination, Southern Tier Unearthly, DFH 120 minute. It was a miracle to leave there spending less than one hundred dollars, but they gave a nice quantity discount as well. Great place, great selection, great folks. Check it out whenever you're in the area.

Based on reviews I read at Beer Advocate while researching the Virginia Beach for a recent visit, this shop seemed like a "must see" location for beer lovers. Upon entering I walked directly to the two-door beer cooler (on the right) to see what was available. I wish you could have seem my smile as I surveyed the selection; nearly everything there was new to me. Sadly realizing that I had no practical way to transport cold beer back to North Carolina, I moved on to the "beer wall," which takes up at least two four-foot sections of shelves. My even bigger smile must have betrayed my thoughts, as Kevin walked over and asked if I saw anything new here. He was nice, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Due to distribution and alcohol level issues (NC limit is 15%; no limit in VA), some beers simply aren't available in my state. They have Green Flash, high-alcohol Dogfish Head (Fort, Raison D'extra), the Stone line, some rarer Victory products, Avery's Mephistopheles Stout, and Smuttynose. Among items I'm familiar with, they have Rogue, Ommegang, North Coast, Unibroue, and Weyerbacher. There is also a large contingent of Belgian beers and a few Virginia products. Everything is available by the single bottle.

I left this store with approximately $60 in products I've never seen in my state; you can expect to see my reviews pop up in the next several weeks! This was a most pleasant and exciting shopping experience; if I lived near this store I'd be in there constantly!

After some quick research and review reading, this was my main target while on a recent vacation with the family to Sandbridge, VA.

Lots of wine and beer...a toy store for people like me! Very clean and nicely decorated...think of a fine gift shop, rather than a liquor store. The beer lines most of the right wall, with a few center islands also housing selections.

The selection and quality are awesome...right up there with any other major bottle shop. I imagine they get pretty much everything that is distro. in VA.

What really sets this place apart and garners such a high rating is the service. Both Kevin and Gabe are extremely knowledgeable and super big beer fans. It is easy to tell that they enjoy beer as much as anyone shopping there and are quick to tell you HONEST opinions about some of the offerings you may not be familiar with. Kevin even keeps juice boxes for kids (free!!) in one of the beer coolers...this tiny gesture shows what kind of person he is and what kind of business he runs.

I hope the people in that area of VA know how lucky they are to have such a great place right in their own back yard.

I visit the Grape and Gourmet on every visit to Va Beach and am always extremely satisfied. Sadly, it took me nearly three year for a beerfly review.

The staff are always very friendly and accomodating and are really very knowledgable about the beers they have. They alwasy seem enthusiastic to be working there, and it show.

The selection is bar none, the best in Va Beach. They have pretty much everything. Loads of Belgians and other English imports. The domestic variety is quite impressive as well. They have locals like Legend, Williamsburg Aleworks, and other stuff not available in NC like Troegs, 21st Ammendment. I even found a couple bottles of 120minute IPA a couple years back. I am sure that if something isnt on the shelves and they can get, they will get it if requested.

The only thing I can think of that I would like to change is this: All of the beers are singles only, which means there is no real advantage to buying a six pack, which makes this place a bit pricey. They do offer a 10% discount on purchases of cases, but 24 beers is a lot to commit to. An awesome place in Va Beach!

This place is amazing! I always carry a list of what I'm looking for when I go in here to avoid impulse buys. This NEVER works. They have way too many beers at decent prices. The owners are awesome. One of them spent half an hour just talking about awesome beers and helping me find stuff. My list had 3 items on it, I ended up with about 12 different beers just because he saw what I liked and recommended things that he thought I might like. He pulls no punches with saying his opinion on beers, had a smile on his face the entire time, and didn't make me feel like a jackass for mispronouncing names or wanting beers that are unavailable. He enjoys beer and his job which rules. Great selection of Trappists (I saw all but Westvleteren in there) and Belgians, best selection of domestic microbrews in town, decent selection of English stuff, and a ton of wines. I asked about getting beer I knew wasn't available and he told me where to get it but offered me an amazing alternative that he had in stock. Whenever I'm in VA Beach I will continue to pop in here and load up.

The go to place in the area for craft brew, and wine if you are into that. Awesome staff, Kevin the owner is awesome to talk to about beer and his wife who runs the wine part is super funny. Really good people! They offer a free weekly beer tasting the often features some really great beers, it is a great way to expand your beer experiences. Overall selection is great, and very diverse. Prices are fair, and if you add in that you get the free tastings it really adds to the value. Definitely the best of the best in the VB area.
