Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Speiglau BA glass.

Look is a hazy reddish orange with a white head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma is vineous with red wine and slightly sour notes.

Taste is tart and refreshing like a light carbonated red wine blend.

500 ml bottle into a chalice. 2017 edition, bottled 5/2/17, had 4/30/18. Aged 36 months in French red wine barrels, which I believe is different than earlier years.

Pours a hazy apricot, with a one and a half inch foamy head and some slippery, foamy lacing. Smells lightly sour and tart. Aromas of wine, oak, yeast, some apricot and apple, light lemon, light cherries when warm. The taste is somewhat sour and lightly tart. Flavors of wine- less than the nose, oak, yeast, some lemon, light apricot and apple, some malt, light cherries when warm, a light sweetness on the finish. Smooth, a good light to medium body, well carbonated.

There’s a lot going on here, but there’s not a lot of intensity in the flavor. The wine barrels are good, but have a light influence on the flavor for 36 months. It’s certainly good overall, but not very complex. Has a pretty high price point for what you get, so buyer beware.

Sadly I don’t understand the hype. Have loved all of the Alewerks line, but this one tasted like straight vinegar. Was not pleasant at all and disappointed at price point that this was the product I was told was the it product to try. It had a much better finish, but I had to force myself to get there, and I only did that based on the other excellent beers from this brewery. I still have a vinegar after taste here ten minutes later and am left wondering if I got a bad bottle, but other reviews claiming sour and vinegar taste dissuade me from blaming it on that sadly.

The beer pours a nice white fizzy head that dissipates fairly quickly. The beer itself is nice to see with a clear, yet hazy, orangish color to it. It's a decent look but not as overly impressive as other wild ales.

The smell and taste are decent. It has a nice soft tart notes with a moderate vinegar. The other notes are a raspberry fruit like quality that mixes with a nice vanilla and oak note. Both the smell and taste have the same notes but the smell is a bit more vinegar while the taste has a more oaky note.

The feel is pretty good. It's a medium body beer with a a more syrup jam like feel to it. The carbonation is a bit tingly but barely there.

Overall, this is a pretty good beer even though it's fairly mild compared to other ones. However, it seems both accessible and looks like it can improve with age.

Similar to a Flanders Brown, light reddish brown with a moderately frothy, off-white head that dies off fairly quickly.

I get a lot of rose, oaky vinegar, and strawberries on the nose, with more of a smoothing lactic feel on the tongue, keeping it from becoming as acetic as the nose hinted at.

I had this again at a beer fest yesterday. I do not remember this being as good when I had it first. I think the extra year in the bottle did something extra special here.

The appearance was just like I remembered, pink blush and little fizz of head that disappears quickly.

The nose and flavor was more pronounced - sour came through much more than I remembered and lots of bright sour fruits. I had this while eating some brisket and I was amazed how well it stood up.

The only reason I didn't buy more of this when it was readily available was it was about $15/bottle. I'd pay that for what I had yesterday so next time I'll grab a couple and stash them away for a year or so.
