A: Cloudy golden beer. 2 fingers worth of fluffy head on the top which lasts forever.

S: Wet hay, earthy yeast, lemon zest, a slight pepperiness, some funk. Not a very big aroma, but pleasant.

T: The taste follows the aroma, it is earthy and grassy, with a fair amount of yeast. A kiss of grassy hops on the finish. It is slightly watery, and the flavors are muted.

M: Light body, prickly carbonation.

O: I wish there was more flavor to this beer. It is tasty, but nothing special as far as saisons go. It's essentially a saison light.

Nice change of pace beer for me on Easter! Big thanks to Mike for this beer! I have been having too many dark beers lately.

A- Very nice golden honey murky nowhere as translucent as the style should be. I like murky! Pours cloudy white one-finger head with decent retention, suds gum up the glass.

S- Nice lemon zest, brett, funk farmhouse, orange zest. Very bright in its' smell. Pretty uniform to the style, but maybe a little more lemon/orange zest than the norm.

T- Again, very uniform to the style with brett farmhouse, citrus. I am getting random oatmeal in here as well. This must be one of those new oatmeal farmhouse saisons that the US is churning out.

O- I think this is a very great take on a farmhouse saison; nice play with the brett and citrus. A great change of pace beer that I very much needed! Thanks MIke!

A: This beer poured a hazy golden light amber with a generous off white head. Good lacing and head retention.

S: Spicy notes with low floral hop aroma. The hops are not allowed to overpower the malt/wheat aroma from this saison. Citrusy, grapefruit and a wee peppery note are complimentary to this brew.

T: Much as the aroma belies, it has an upfront spicy floral and grapefruit and orange flavor with a background of wheat. It has a nice balance of sweet light malt with a low tart/tang of a pleasant citrus.

M: Medium light body with a medium high carbonation.

O: This is a great beer. I like the refreshing tartness and sublime fruit notes. All the ingredients are well balanced. If you're a fan of belgians and witbier this will be a favorite. I'd buy a case of this.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Deep orange colored body, quite opaque, but with a faint nice middle column of carbonation and some small slow rising white bubbles along the sides of the glass. Slight retention a bit for a three finger tall head, very soapy and off white in color.

Slight crisp yeast and farmhouse dryness bouquet. Sweet sucrose a bit and a sense of peanut butter. Somewhat floral, a little bit grassy, but there's a good note of malt sweetness getting more into Belgian strong ale than hinting a saison.

Palate comes out with Belgian character, but more muted saison qualities. Sweet orange and candied fruit, a light bodied palate that brings some honey notes. Virtually no funky quality and minimal dryness on the finish. Slightly wet palate, but surprisingly feels a little flat considering the well displayed and noticeable carbonation levels. Hints toward some nice peachy fruit also that isn't cloyingly sweet or syrupy thick.

It's not awful, but really not what I look for in this style. This really comes off more of just a decent Belgian Strong Ale. Good to know Alewerks still makes some other great things though.

Bottle shared by jayhawk73. Thanks Jeff!

The beer is orange with a towering white head. The aroma brings some tart citrus, wheat, lemongrass, mild funk, sweet malt. Decent flavor. Crisp and zesty carbonation. Mildly sweet with light bittering hops in the finish. This was ok, but not what I seek in a beer of this ilk.

Poured out of a 750 mL bottle, into an Alewerks snifter (came in the gift set).

A: Hazy golden-orange color, beautiful color in the glass. Fizzy head, diminished almost immediately, no lacing.

S: The scent is very mild. Smells like citrus, and mild apple scents overlaid with a straw scent.

T: Citrus fruits with pear and mild cherries in the front, quickly takes on an herbal and floral character. Finishes with a slight sourness, but nothing that overshadows the earlier flavors.

M: The mouthfeel is light, with a bit of carbonation that makes up for the lightness of the body. Easy drinker.

O: It is sold as a saison, but probably not a great example of one by style. As a beer it is tasty, and enjoyable to drink.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange with apricot colored edges and a frothy, two finger white head that very slowly settles into a lasting cap/ring. Very good retention for the style with large chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Floral, perfume like aroma with zesty spice, bready yeast, bubblegum and sweet citrus fruit. Not much of a farmhouse/saison yeast character with only subtle musty funk. Smells more like an American wheat beer. Slightly mineraly with some pepper and clove followed by the wheat, yeast and orange peel.

Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a zesty spice presence up front that lingers over subtle funk, bread, bubblegum and citrus zest into a slightly dry finish. Again, the saison/farmhouse character is faint with only subtle grassy, musty funk. Feels more like a wheat beer with peppery clove and coriander followed by a strong bready yeast character and prominent bubblegum flavor. Some lemon pith/citrus sweetness towards the finish but that's pretty tame as well. Not all that interesting or flavorful but at least it's easy to drink. Not a very good interpretation of the style in my opinion.
