In a word, a" Scottish IPA". Unusual taste, hoppy, wierd, but drinkable. Golden bodied, Soapy head, lacey. Funky, a tad acidic, and a dry finish.Carbonation is appropriate, average mouthfeel. I get some champagne taste. Thanks for sharing, Radek.

bomber from WFM Vienna

a: poured into a dfh curved pint, the action gives a frothy off-white head that falls to a splotchy coating, the beer itself a lightly hazed amber in color

s: simple pale malt nose with undertones of toasted bread and caramel, mild earthy hop nose of the english/scottish type, a vague note of apple juice, mineral, clean

m: carbonation moderate and lively, light to medium in body

t: clean pale malts with touches of toast and caramel, quite dry with a mineral essence, mildy flavored woody hops impart a finishing bitterness

o: in the same vein as an english ipa - simple malt structure with a mild, balancing hop in a low abv package, a fine beer that does what it’s supposed to well, but not of particular interest to me

I had this at the November Baltimore BA tasting. Served from the bottle into a tasting snifter.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy golden amber color with a layer of white head that fades to a ring around the pour.

Smell: Sweet and malty up front, just a touch of caramel. Then comes the hops which reminds me of citrus peel.

Taste: Citrus peel hops with some spice, almost reminds me of rye. There is just enough malt to back up the hops. I'm getting a slightly fruity note throughout the sip. The finish is bitter and hoppy.

Mouthfeel: The body is medium with tingly carbonation and a finish that is a bit dry.

Overall: I thought this was a solid offering. The hop level was quite nice. I'd have more given the chance.

Tap at magnolias

Nice fluffy head hits 1+ fingers then fades semi quickly, hazy peach orange color.

Nose fresh grassy floral hops, little fruity and earthy, light chewy hops, light sweet aromatic malts too, toasty juicy, nice aromatic profile.

Taste brings fruit flavors, fruity hops with a light grassy floral character. Then a tea flavor, fruity tea like flavor, nice bitterness that's fairly mild, slight earthy chewy hop. Some slightly sweet toasty amber malts. Finish is drier but semi sticky with a decent grassy hop bitterness.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall not bad, nothing special but nothing great.

A: Pours a solid orange hue with a thin white lace that leaves no trail or lace.

S: Malty aroma that is just slightly hoppy.

T: Similar to the smell there is a good malty base with hints of mild hops in the background.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: This was a very disappointing beer – nothing I would grab again.

I am always excited to try a well-made, session-able ale, and this one does not disappoint. Bomber from the brewery poured into a nonic pint, this is bright, golden orange with just the right amount of carbonation. Taste is of floral hops with some mild bitterness. There's also a nice citrus quality to the finish that further enhances its drrinkability.

Edited to add: This is not a Scottish ale, its a British IPA or session IPA.

A: The beer is a pale gold color with a very fluffy white head that lingers and leaves moderate lacing. The beer is very hazy, and has a lot of visible carbonation.

S: The hops come through very nicely, in some light citrus notes and some faint pine. There is a slight mineral quality to the scent as well. Not metallic, but kind of like rock...hard to put it into words. Slightly floral notes as well.

T: There is a slight nutty flavor to the beer. The hops are nicely done with some light pine resin flavor and bitter grapefruit flavors. It is very light and balanced well as an IPA.

M: The mouthfeel is brightly carbonated but not quite as dry as I'd like.

O: I think it's important to consider that this is not a typical Scottish Ale, but rather a Scottish IPA. That makes a huge difference in both color and flavor profiles. I would recommend it to those who are looking for an actual IPA, and don't want to get slammed by a hop bomb. I don't know the yeast that they used, but I have noticed that the flavor of the beer takes definite characteristics of other Scottish beers I have had that use "Scottish yeast". My only real qualm is that it is not dry enough.

22oz bottle from Brewer's Choice series. Billed as a Scottish Style India Pale Ale. Unsure of category.

A: brilliantly clear amber/orange hue, will blindly guess an 8 srm or so. one finger of fine white head that fades quickly. light stream of bubbles flows up from the bottom of nb globe glass.

S: huge american hop aroma, pine, citrus (lemon lime orange), almond, then maybe some malt but hops are too dominant. slightly catty, probably citra.

T: hoppy bitterness, but not overwhelming, chinook-like but can't be certain, then the scottish ale hints, maybe? there is a touch of smoke and biscuit at the end but if the label didn't say scottish style, i'd assume another ipa w/ an odd grain bill.

M: light-medium body, despite the supposed scottish malt bill, i'm able to pound this quite quickly. a little bit slick on the tongue afterwards, not diacetyl, maybe hop resins? otherwise lingering bitterness.

O: nice take on experimentation. I'd drink this on tap fresh, despite the minor cat pee (to which i am probably over sensitive). great for the price and another above avg offering from a localish brewery.
