Bell is the oldest brand and most popular beer in Uganda.
Light straw yellow color with short lived white head. The smell on this beer is not one of its finer qualities as it evolves from pent up light grains to a very subtle corn smell. Flavor is hard to describe since there really isn't much - watery corn, a little sugar and absolutely no hops to speak of. The mouthfeel however, is not bad - very light and bubbly.
This is a pretty watered-down, bland beer in the BMC lite mold. In its defense, the lack of flavor is better I suppose than presence of bad flavor, and it is what is what its intended to be.

Pours a clear golden color and is topped with an avergae white head. The retentions is pretty solid.
The aroma is very mild, just some malts and perhaps a little grains.
The taste starts light and neutral. The balanced body is followed by a very enjoyable bitterness. No unpleasant metal feeling in the aftertaste is very nice.
Drinkable, refreshing and very enjoyable. Slightly surprised.

500ml Brown bottle drank during a German and lager tasting evening last week (early Aug 2011).
The beer stood up well against some better known German Pilsners and Exports.
It looked the typical lager/pilsner, very pale gold, clean and clear, on top the white head you'd expect.
The smell was of grains with a slight malt sweetness becoming stronger as the cold beer began to warm a little in the glass.
Regular crisp lager/pilsner feel and taste, the blend of hops and barley giving a refreshing, if uninspiring flavour to the brew.
Would never have known it wasn't a European lager/pilsner, so well done to who ever over sees the brewing.
Better than your average lager (just).

Appearance - pours a clean golden yellow. Notable finger of white, poppy foam. That settles fairly quickly, leaving a few stray bits of lace behind.
Aroma - macro grainish smell, a touch of diacetyl.
Taste - grainy, standard Euro lager fare. Light diacetyl is not unexpected. There is a very light bite of faded hops, mostly balancing in effect.
Mouthfeel - crisp feel, decent balance between dryness and grainy smoothness.
Drinkability - common relief for the savanna heat, but not a short-lister. Propers to my neighbor who arranged to have this brought back from the motherland just for yours truly.
