Dark brown color with a finger of dense head that slowly settled to a thick cap. Heavy lacing is left down the glass.
Aroma is a combination of the hops that lend a grapefruit and pine scent, and the dark malt that has hints of chocolate and dark bread.
A little weak on the flavor. Neither the hops or malt gives a great deal of flavor. No ABV information can be found but I think it is in the 5% range. Hints of grapefruit, pine, semi sweet chocolate, and grain.
Somewhat thin body and a bit overcarbonated. A little prickly on the palate.
Brewed with second runnings. Not sure what beer those would be from. A lighter version of the black IPA style that is worth trying.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, light pine, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, light coffee, and floral/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops with a fair amount of roasted malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, light coffee, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, cocoa, roast, toast, light coffee, light char, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops with moderate roasted malt balance; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, moderately sticky, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Black IPA. All around good complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and roasted malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
