Poured from bottle into pint glass

A- Brown in color with a massive creamy tan head

S- Mostly a sweet sent of nuts, but mild

T- Sweet caramel, chocolate and hints of nuts with a roasty finish.

M- Medium bodied and mile carbonation

D- I like this. Pretty solid brown ale, so far best beer from the sampler.

look: 3.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a slightly reddish tint. half finger of off white head that fades to almost nothing. Light lacing. I would prefer more retention.

Smell: pleasantly deep, but sweet with notes of Apricot and maple. a tad Boozy.

Taste: caramel flavor that slowly builds in depth and complexity

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and fizzy.

Overall: I am often dissapointed with brown ales because they will deliver a simple maple sweetness without depth or complexity. This brown ale, however, has scrumptuous depth to its sweet complex flavor. I would definitely have more of this. In fact I think I'll have more now!

look: 3 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

Appearance:
Medium brown body, which is incredibly clear, has a slight ruby tint. Thin, cream colored head leaves no lacing. Carbonation is dismal.

Aroma:
Simpe and a bit boring. Sweet caramel presense and a bit of grain and maybe sweet corn. Very light hop chracter lend a citrusy tinge. Interesting cola character also comes and goes.

Taste:
Again, simple is the theme here. Great balance with a very light bitterness right up front that disappears quickly revealing a moderately sweet, caramel malt. Slight doughiness.

Mouthfeel:
It's a fairly smooth, medium-bodied brown. Decent carbonation. Clean finish.

Overall:
This is a good brown ale, but there is nothing about it that screams at you for attention. Brown ales are far from my favorite style, but I try and review to the style, so keep that in mind. Easy to drink and inoffensive, worthy of consideration, but their are better browns avaiable.

On first impressions whilst sat at the airport Surdyks bar. I enjoyed this Braun / Brown Ale. It was a bit on the lighter end of the color spectrum for what I've come to expect with an Americanized Brown Ale. I'd guess this is going for a more traditional English take on it, except for it's been Americanized for abv's. I also noticed that it was quite a bit more interested in acidity than being nutty and caramel-ish. So, I think I probably should've paired it with some kind of noshable to provide contrast.
All that said. This would probably make for a gentle lover of a cool weather beer if it was served as a Real Ale.
Would definitely try it again, and maybe get a session in with it to really test drive it if I would get the opportunity.
