T - Nice brown sugar or molasses flavor, strong malt character, sweet, with just a hint of hop flavor.

M - Medium full, right amount of CO2.

O - Wow, what a pleasant brown ale. Very full tasting, a great fall beer with lots of flavor.

Purchased at Blue Max Liquors in Burnsville, MN. Pours a dark reddish copper body with an off white head that caps the beer. Aroma of milk chocolate, toasted bread and nutty toffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavors of chocolate covered dried cherries first greet you then transition to a smooth and sweet finish. Great drinkability.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Rich, somewhat dark brown with an orange-red hue. Small off-white head forms with spotty lacing.

Smell: Milk chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Very nice malty smell overall.

Taste: Semi-sweet malt backbone of caramel, toffee, chocolate, dark fruit and molasses. A nice nut flavor helps cut the sweetness which turns slightly drying at the end.

Feel: Relatively low carbonation, medium smooth body, slight dry finish. Just a nice pub ale feel overall.

Drinkability: Both full flavored and easy drinking at the same time. Maybe the best English Brown Ale I have had.

One of six styles included in a Brau Brothers Brewing sampler 12-pack.

Poured from a 12 oz. longneck brown bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Deep hazy brown color. A one finger tan foam head that left nice sticky lacing as it receded.

Smell: Sweet, malty and dark fruits. Caramel and brown sugar.

Taste: Sweet malts with underlying flavors of creamy caramel and some raspberry and blackberry. Very little hops, this one is all about the malts, and it is very good.

Mouth Feel: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

Drinkability: Malty, flavorful, sweet and smooth. A good malty brown ale to session with. The dark fruit flavors are nice as well. This is a good one from Brau Brothers Brewing.

Malty brown, pours brown with initial white foamy head. Some bitterness apparent, but well washed over with malt, making it easy drinkable but essentially another malt. Some chocolate malt. nothing really roasty came through, but did come to a fruit finish.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Central Waters shaker pint.

Auburn body with a creamy beige collar and surface slick. Pasty lacing, average retention.

The aromatics bring the fruit flies running: tea biscuits, golden raisins, and a mild hop spiciness.

Powerful malt depth with chocolate covered raspberries, orange seeds, and a tangy spicy earthy finish. Mild bitterness offsets the sweet notes. Very good and surprisingly complex.

Smooth light bodied, creamy yet crisp.

Unique, well crafted example of the style.

Appearance:
Medium brown body, which is incredibly clear, has a slight ruby tint. Thin, cream colored head leaves no lacing. Carbonation is dismal.

Aroma:
Simpe and a bit boring. Sweet caramel presense and a bit of grain and maybe sweet corn. Very light hop chracter lend a citrusy tinge. Interesting cola character also comes and goes.

Taste:
Again, simple is the theme here. Great balance with a very light bitterness right up front that disappears quickly revealing a moderately sweet, caramel malt. Slight doughiness.

Mouthfeel:
It's a fairly smooth, medium-bodied brown. Decent carbonation. Clean finish.

Overall:
This is a good brown ale, but there is nothing about it that screams at you for attention. Brown ales are far from my favorite style, but I try and review to the style, so keep that in mind. Easy to drink and inoffensive, worthy of consideration, but their are better browns avaiable.

A: Light brown with a golden tint; a thin head that dissipates to a very thin film

S: Roasted grainy malts with a sweet candied sugar and caramel aroma; also a biscuity smell to complement the sweetness

T: Alcohol is prevalent; nutty and bready with a caramel undertone; surprisingly complex

F: Pretty good mouth feel--though carbonation seems a bit much

D: A nice offering from Brau Bros. Alcoholy but pleasant and nice for sipping

Poured a dirty dark amber/brown with a thin off white head, mild lacing and minor retention.

The smell is very grainy and malty, lightly sweet with a touch of chocolate.

The balance is nice with a bit of toasted grain, hints of chocolate and toffee and a nice bit of earthy hops.

The mouthfeel is nice and creamy, a bit on the thin side though.

Easy to drink solid English Brown.

Pours a deep, dark brown with a thin, tan head that quickly disipates to just a ring. Leaves just a little lacing.

The smell is of milk chocolate and nuts. Maybe just a hint of sour. I don't get a big nosefull of many aromas.

The chocolate malt really comes through with some nuttiness and nice hop bitterness to balance everything out. I would say it is medium bodied but the fizzyness of the carbonation makes it seem lighter. This is a really good beer. Just needs to be more active on pour with better head retention.

This is a brown that has been very well done. Living in Wisconsin makes it hard to find, thankfully Minnesota is just an hour away. Worth the drive to pick up a few cases of this beer. Caramel and chocolate with a nice malt flavor that has me wanting more and more. It feels a little grainy in the mouth, but has a great finish, not to bitter.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a slightly reddish tint. half finger of off white head that fades to almost nothing. Light lacing. I would prefer more retention.

Smell: pleasantly deep, but sweet with notes of Apricot and maple. a tad Boozy.

Taste: caramel flavor that slowly builds in depth and complexity

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and fizzy.

Overall: I am often dissapointed with brown ales because they will deliver a simple maple sweetness without depth or complexity. This brown ale, however, has scrumptuous depth to its sweet complex flavor. I would definitely have more of this. In fact I think I'll have more now!

Served on tap at the Happy Gnome, this pours a clear dark brown color. The smell is sweet and nutty. The taste is sweet and malty with a nutty caramel flavor, with minimal hops. There's nothing overly complicated about this beer-it just tastes good, in the style of an English brown ale. The mouthfeel is smooth and tasty. It's easily drinkable and satisfyling. Recommended!
