12oz bottle no date into a nonic pint glass.
L: Pours clear caramel with a thin & slightly fizzy khaki head with good retention, high carbo with many fine bubbles, random skeletal lacing.
S: Toasted caramelized malts, a hint of root beer, toffee, hard candy, sweet smelling, a suggestion of dark berries, brown bread.
T: Sweet toasted caramelized malts, peat, background light smoke, earthy grains, toffee, a hint of raisins, plum, brown soda bread, a kiss of salt. Well balanced with a gentle bitter linger. Peat taste is in the palate.
F: Snappy, lightly brisk & fizzy then smoothing over time becoming a bit creamy. Moderately dry med-length finish.
O: Great balance here. Flavors are mostly in the middle. A very good Wee Heavy with a light & bitter linger that's a wee bit fruity. Reminds me slightly somehow of some Dopplebocks I've had. Its feel shifts from bright to smooth with warming. No alcohol taste. It is very good in its style.

I got a bottle of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured a clear with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had subtle earth notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bold peat flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

From a beer of the month bottle. Poured has a slight off-white foam head with a clear brown to reddish body. Scent has a peaty earth quality to it, no doubt from the peat-smoked malt; some of the alcohol is also evident lending just a touch of sweetness. Flavor is very peaty and very smoked, along with some hints of darker fruit (cherry? plum?)...a fascinating combination to see in a beer. The aftertaste is quite bitter as a result of the peatiness, in some ways reminding me of charcoal ales (although not the same flavor, a similar bitter aftertaste). Likely my first peated scotch ale, it has a flavor that can grow on you as you drink it (and as it warms a bit).

It’s a mild brew with a Carmel taste. Not as heavy as some scotch ales I’ve had. Very pleasing.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip (sorry, no thistle in the cupboard).
Pours a nice dark brown, but crystal clear. A somewhat disappointing head even for the style and ABV. Limited but ok lacing.
Aromas of caramel malt, with some smokey/peaty aromas in the background. A touch of grassy/earthy hop.
The smoke is lurking in the background initially, as the brew hits the tip of the tongue with ample caramel and toasted malt. The mid-palate is greeted with more mild grassy/earthy hops. The smoke arrives at the end and with a vengeance, with serious solid peat and smoke with a touch of booze.
The brew is beyond medium but not heavy or sticky. The carbonation seemed rather subdued on the pour, but lingers. The alcohol also helps lean things.
A solid smokey wee heavy.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into glass. No bottling date information found.
Cloudy, deep amber colored body. Hard pour results in minimal head, with settles to the most minor of rings (fed by carbonation bubbles). Just a few spots of lacing that disappear.
Aroma of sweet and caramel malts, and peat/smoke with iodine.
Taste of sweet malt, but also slightly charred/slightly bitter malts, with smoky peat/iodine that can be interpreted as metallic/medicinal. Not much of a lingering after taste.
Thinner mouth feel.
Certainly has peat contribution as described on label.

Amber color, thin collar that disappears quickly leaving only an edge of glass foam. Slight peach aroma. Initial sweet beer taste that transforms into a metallic taste that lingers in the mouth.

Very nice flavor. Reminded me of a bourbon barrel beer but a little milder

Pours a deep, dark amber. A bit lighter than most Scotch Ales. Crystal clear (I can read this review through the center of the glass). Moderate head but it settles quickly. Some minor spotting on the glass for lace.
Caramel sweet with a toasted bread touch. I also get a slightly soured milk nose.
The taste hits the right notes with a heavily malted flavor. Again, it is predominately the sweet caramel and toasted bread that comes through strongest. The body is not as rich as most in this category, but the carbonation is sufficiently muted to give the beer a fuller feel. The finish is slightly off--I get a little metal, some hop (surprise!) and more of the tartness identified in the smell.

Pours cloudy, brown with a nice bold head. Aroma is a pleasant peat and sweet malt. Nice crisp bold taste with a smooth finish...got this with a Beer of the Month selection....I have never seen this brand on Long Island but would buy it if I could....This is a good one, give it a try!
