A- Pours pitch black color, dark tan head. A very small amount of lacing is present.

S- Coffee, black olives, coffee.

T- Starts off with some acidic chococlate, a tiny bit of coffee and finishes slightly dry and a bit acidic.

M- Subtle carbonation works. Body overall, a bit thin per style and ABV

O- Need more coffee... a little disappointing.

A - Pours black with two fingers of brown head. Head has very good retention and leaves some nice lacing behind. Look great.

S - Nice earthy roasted coffee aroma, with a bit of smoke and other roasted malts. Also smells a bit like coffee with cream. Faint bittersweet chocolate. Nice.

T - Taste follows the aroma pretty closely, b ut with a stronger chocolate presence and a bit more deep roasted/slightly burnt malt. Coffee presence is string and mildly creamy. Definitely need to be a coffee fan to enjoy this, and I am.

M - A bit thinner than I would like, and a little too much acidity. Finishes dry and bitter.

O - An enjoyable coffee stout. Not as complex or creamy as my favorite coffee stouts, but I enjoyed this.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness Chalice glass.

Appearance: Pours an oily black with a moderate amount of rising bubbles. Decent one finger of tan head that fades into a thin creamy layer. Lots of lacing hanging around the glass.

Smell: A fairly strong aroma of coffee up front with lots of dark chocolate. Dark roasted caramel malts with a nice underlying hint of dark cherries. A little candied sugar and wheat grains round it out. The coffee smells great, like holding some fresh gourmet beans to my nose.

Taste: A very roasty and nicely sweet taste. Lots of coffee beans and dark roasted malts with notes of dark chocolate up front. Some caramel, toffee, sugar, and wheat blends with a very noticeable presence of dark cherries. Light presence of hops add some bitterness towards the finish. Fairly sweet but enough bitterness to keep it balanced.

Mouthfeel: Body on the thicker side of medium. Carbonation is moderate. Sweet and sticky but manages to finish somewhat dry.

Overall: A very solid take on a coffee stout. The cherry flavor blends in very well with the coffee and dark malts.

A: Quite black with a dark brown head--somewhat thin but steady--and lacing is great

S: Lots of dark roasted coffee--nearly espresso; some other dark fruits mingle with the coffee including the cherry; some subtle booze notes finish the aromas fairly nicely

T: A dry bitter coffee stout and I really like it; so roasty with chocolate and coffee taking the show with just a touch of dark fruits behind

F: Creamy and rather thick--nice body for a bigger stout like this

O: I am really impressed by this beer; one of my favorites from them; really a solid roasty coffee stout

Nice looking stout with one finger of tan head that had decent retention before settling to a thick cap. Handsome lacing is left down the entire glass.

Smells nice as well. Good amount of coffee aroma with hints of roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, and Milk Duds.

Taste is not as impressive as the aroma however. The coffee is a little harsh and astringent. Thankfully there is a solid roasted malt flavor to back up the coffee. Hints of bitter chocolate and burnt toast. This beer definately could benefit from some sweetness. Alcohol is not detected.

The body is weak and a little thin. Carbonation is of the fine, fizzy type.

Not the best coffee beer on the shelves but there are definately many a lot worse. Probably will not replace Redband Stout as an affordable coffee beer.

I missed the Brau Bros. Moo Joos w/ coffee at the local beer expo, so I was very happy to see this at the store recently. Poured into a Darkness snifter.

Deep black colored pour with a nice dark tan head which dissipated quickly, left minimal lacing.

My nose gets hit with that great sweet coffee scent I've only experienced in coffee beers.

The coffee dominates the taste. There is a balance of sweetness and bitter. Coffee-black with two sugars. As the beer warms it opens up fruity banana flavors, and I notice more maltiness.

It feels light for a stout, moderate carbonation and ends appropriately dry.

I like to say all the best things to drink are brewed; Teas, Coffee, and Beer. Coffee Beers are a great combination of two great beverages. Brau Bros has a solid rendition of this, compared to the Breakfast Stout I had days ago, I feel the Bros missed the stout mark. It was more like a Coffee Bender with a bit higher ABV.

I have yet to find a Brau Bros beer I enjoyed, and after a particularly bad experience with Forgotten Flem I swore off the Braus for a while. Then they wave a coffee stout in my face, and here I am picking one up. This is why I don't do casinos. I am always the guy willing to get $40 more from the ATM, because my luck is about to change.

And maybe my luck is about to change. What a beautiful, classically stout pour. And the smell, num. Great coffee profile, a little scorched in the back but very inviting.

Of course, taste is really where the Brau beers have lost me, basically with a vague dirty water taste. That dirty water taste does creep into the picture, but it doesn't completely befoul the experience. I still pick up on a bit of coffee, roast, other bittering flavors. And combined with the flavors, that earthiness isn't appealing. But at least it doesn't render the flavor terrible as it has with other beers. It just renders it OK.

Could use a bit more thickness, but well representing of a stout.

Finally, finally, I have had a beer from Brau that I enjoyed. I am still not sure about the earthy, soily taste in the beer, but I would buy Cherry Bean Coffee Stout again.

Bottle from kjyost, 12oz bottle into a tulip.

Pours pretty much black, dirty dark brown head. Moderate lacing, and light retention. Nose has a beautiful coffee bouquet, creamy, vanilla and medium roast coffee. Some coffee cake/bread, mild hazelnut, good sweetness over a gentle roast. Almost smells like snickerdoodle cookies a bit. Very nice here. Taste is a bit lighter, but still fantastic coffee flavours. Lightly roasty, nutty, creamy and mild bitterness. Touch of tartness. Medium light feel, and relatively low carbonation. Really nice coffee stout, one of the better ones in recent memory.

Thanks to Jakers90 for the bottle. Served in a tulip.

Pours near-black with a thin light tan head that quickly subsides into a thin collar without leaving more than a spot or two of lace behind. The nose has a slight cherry presence along with a good dose of coffee and roast. Flavor has a nice combination of cherry and roast, finishing with some dark chocolate. Body is medium to a slightly-dry finish. Pretty good.

Reviewing from my recent trip to Old Chicago in Sioux Falls. Served on tap, sadly in a standard pint glass.

I've been waiting for this release since I got the email from Lucan about its release and seen it at Taylors Pantry in town so I knew it was available and couldn't wait to try it. Being situated in between Brau Brothers and the source of the coffee beans in Parker SD, I really felt a local connection with this brew.

Tap arrived to my table with a lovely 3/8 inch mocha brown head. Color of the beer itself was very dark. My drinking partner could smell the coffee from across the table! Very strong dark coffee aroma but no hint of cherry at all. Mouthfeel was smooth. This is very tasty. Didn't have a chance to see or ask what the ABV was but the listing on BA confirmed my suspicion that it had a substantial alcohol content (7.5%) as I began to "feel it" after the second one.

Very impressed by this brew as I am with all from Brau. Very smooth and too easy to drink as it has no booziness at all. Highly recommend and I will be making a trip to Taylors to pickup six of these real soon!
