Look out! Foam bomb incoming! Pours a messy foamy mess, that's for sure, and looks like a dark yellow ale...sheets of lacing. Smells like an ale, maybe hinting at hops, but balanced overall on the malts. Taste is bready, then hops, and then dry....a super scrubbing fizz bomb this is too! Ultra scrubbing, calculus chewing carbonation..the highest I've had in some time, nothing tame here. Mouthfeel is dry and slightly watery, but creamy at the middle and end, and not really too watery. I'd drink a few more of these. Good!

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Clear gold with thin white cap. Just a touch of lacing.

Smell: Tropical and citrusy galore, with some pine and spiciness. Quite simply, this is the best nose I have experienced on a sub 5% beer.

Taste: Not quite as tropical as the aroma, but still there. Lots of grapefruit, pine and spiciness. The malts largely stay out of the way, which is needed to let the hops shine in such a low abv beer. Assertive bitterness.

Feel: Fairly light but firm body with just enough carbonation. Very dry finish.

Overall: This is an outstanding hoppy session beer, rivaled only by Surly Bitter Brewer. This is also Brau Brothers best beer and I really hope this is a huge hit for them. Overall, an extremely pleasant surprise.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and lively copper amber orange with lots of rising bubbles. Big four finger white head with very good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: Huge aroma of hops like you would expect from a double IPA. Big presence of herbal grassy hops with a big whiff of ripe citrus. Hints of grapefruit, orange, mango, pineapple, and lemon zest. Also a good amount of piney hops. Some pale malts and hints of caramel in the background, but this is very hop forward. Smells like a big west coast IPA. Amazing for a small beer.

Taste: Just as hoppy and bitter as the smell leads. Big combination of ripe and bitter hops. Good notes of ripe grapefruit, orange, lemon, pineapple, and mango. Lots of grassy hop taste and some pine resin. Decent profile of bready pale malts backing things up with a bit of caramel and biscuit. Big flavor for a small session ale. It really delivers on the hops. Very nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Body feels on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation is moderate. Surprisingly light feel considering how much flavor is packed in. Bitter, crisp, and fairly juicy. Goes down fairly easy.

Overall: A pretty amazing beer. Feels so light but tastes so big. Brau Brothers really knocked it out of the park here.

Undated 12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Consumed just after another session pale ale: the exceptional Two Beers Trailhead ISA.

A - White foam overflowed the bottle upon opening, and rose quickly on the pour, preventing a full pour into my over-size snifter. Sudsy foam has good retention and leaves globs of lacing on the glass. The fluid is fairly clear and orange-amber in color.

Aroma: Grapefruit and generic citrus peel with a solid bready malt backbone and hists of yeasty spices and tropical fruits. A bit vegetative.

Taste: hoppy with plenty of grapefruit, hints of tropical fruits and generic citrus, with some baked bread (malts).

M - Body is near medium, with a very dry finish and crisp carbonation. Excellent excepting a light astringency. .

O: compared to the Trailhead ISA, this one is less fruity and more earthy, with, I would guess, some English hops. Marginally fuller mouthfeel and better looking [once the massive head settles a bit], but otherwise less appealing than the ISA. It does have even lower ABV. Recommended.

Big thanks goes out to MBrausen for sending this one my way probably for the sole-purpose of ticking it! Thanks buddy! Served from bottle into a Samuel Smith imperial pint. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a five finger ever-growing slight off-white head that remained throughout. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, floral, floral hop, and fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, floral, spice, and spicy hop. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. I can honestly see why they called it a Super Pale Ale. It’s not because of how hoppy it was, but it was due to the depth of hoppiness going on in both the aroma and flavor. I wish the flavor would have been a little more balanced though to take it to the next level, but it was still pretty nice. Definitely worth your time to try if you get the chance.

Clear, pale golden color with one finger of head that quickly settled to a thin cap. Just a little lacing is left down the glass. Not the liveliest looking beer.

What an aroma! A bountiful supply of hops fill the nose. A mixture of citrus, grassy, and floral. No sign of malt of any kind.

This is a bitter beer. Quite a bite. Along with the bitterness, the hops give some good flavor of citrus, pine, and grass. Some malt comes through with a grain mill, musty flavor but it soons get overwhelmed by the bitterness. Has a dry finish.

The body is not as spirited as I would of liked. Carbonation lies flat on the palate. Substantial body for a lower ABV beer.

A session beer for hopheads maybe. Do not think for a moment this is a balanced beer. It is more expensive per ounce than even Bitter Brewer so that is another knock against its session claims.

This foamed up big time when poured...and tasted a little tart? Wtf... guess it's infected. Single purchased at Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire, WI.

Pours a bright orange, good clarity with rising carb trails. Copious foam at first, dwindles away after a few minutes, leaving lots of chunky lace in the glass. Suspended sediment particles visible.

Hoppy aroma, while somewhat subdued, it's nicely botanical with a slight citrus edge. Wondering how old this is now.

Tastes oddly tart and bitter like aspirin, an unpleasant astringency ruins it unfortunately. Not much flavor to speak of, seems like a shell of it's former self. Will seek out a fresh bottle to re-rate.

Appearance is unknown, as I'm drinking it straight from the bottle, so that'll have to get a 3...

Smells lovely, nice mellow hops with a bright malt profile. Balanced for sure.

This certainly hits the spot - satisfies my hop fix but remains highly drinkable and refreshing.

Well done, Brau Bros. You're beers seem to get a bad wrap from certain BAs and I still don't know why. This is tasty.

I first had this awesome Pale Ale from Brau Bros. on tap at Brau Fest.

It pours gold with a nice head- attractive beer. It looks like it will be smooth.

Smell- Explosion of hops. Tons of fruit on the nose with an emphasis on citrus. It smells smooth.

Taste follows the nose- pure hop bliss that packs a huge flavor punch without the huge alcohol punch. Not as much bitterness as expected with such vibrant hop aroma and taste. The head brewer knows how to brew smoothness.

Overall this beer is killer, mouthfeel is perfect for a hop-forward session Pale Ale. Brau Brothers hit a home run with this and it really should become a year-round offering. Plus it's smooth.

(For reference sake, I bought a 6 pack recently for $10.69 before tax)
