Really well done, I'd never heard of this brewery before but their beer was on point.

Boozy and sweet, great head retention, mouthfeel was really nice, creamy and the booze was there, especially as it warmed down. Overall, a fantastic beer for an extra, that is always nice.

A Cloudy red hue with a thin but steady, creamy head; really nice lacing

S: Lots of bourbon and oak character with dark fruits, cherries, vanilla, brown sugar lingering beneath

T: Complex fruit flavors, bourbon, oak, booze; the flavors become more evident as the beer warms

F: Medium body and creamy--a bit thin in the finish

O: This is a big, boozy beer and I like it--oaky, bourbony, malty, fruity--this is tasty

This quad was just way too sweet. It was like drinking alcohol sugar water that had some superior Belgian quad mix in with it. Barrel aging? Why bother when the beer is this sweet? I'm not going to taste anything but the sugar. A failed experiment, and the 90 percent rating on this site is a deep mystery to me. This beer is in the same style as Westervleteren 12? Incomprehensible. That beer is miraculous, this is a bad joke. I can only thank them for coating the bottle in real wax, and not some polymer nightmare. Pass.

No bottle date - received this in 2012 from laymansbeerfan (thanks!). Orange-ish waxed 750ml, split with a mate into tulips.

A: Murky brown pour yields a semi-turbid body; tanish head has decent retention.

S: Malty upfront with plenty of whiskey and bready sweetness. Toffee, holiday bread, spices, clove, Belgian yeast & candi sugar. A bit boozy and sweet.

T: In line with nose, this is still a decently hot bottle...whiskey thins the body. Toffee is prevalent; not sure if that is the whiskey or the malt though. Some dark fruit character and spices, clove again...plenty of bready notes.

MF: Fuller mouthfeel with creamy tones, a bit hot, and a bit chalky at times.

O: Flavors could use some 'rounding out' and the alcohol could still calm down a bit. Not a bad barrel aged quad but leaves something to be desired.
