Notes/Commercial Description:

This is a solid easy drinking not overpowering witbeir....I'm not a huge fan of Wits...so a subtle one will rate higher than over done one. The beer poured a cloud yellow with white head that is leaving a lace. The scent and taste does have orange zest and some spice. The mouth feel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its decent.

I purchased this at Brass rail deli in a mix-a-six, poured chilled from the cobalt blue bottle into a tumbler.

The color is clear golden with 2 fingers of frothy white with a very fine bead and good retention with thick rings of lace left sticking. The smell has a very citrus dominant almost citronella type lemon/orange scent with slightly sweet aroma. The feel has a very light sweetness with mild carbonation and tangy yeast with juicy citrus sweetness and very dry finish.

The taste is tangy like a lemon soda without the carbonic acid quality, more of a soft citrus flavor with light malt and gentle yeast with subtle grainy flavor and subtle chalky taste in the finish. Overall I consider this okay, not great: basically a wheat beer with citrus taste and a little sweet for me personally and lacks the spice to balance that you expect from a witbier

Poured a cloudy golden body, true to style, with a thin white head, a bit under in fullness for the style. Not bad, but lacking. Scents of lemon juice, light Belgian yeast spiciness, orange zest, hints of clove and lightly sweet malt. Overall impression of aroma is of a very citrus-forward witbier with just a touch of the other aromas of the style. Enticing, yet different. Flavor begins medium sweet with notes of peach, melon and light clove and, light tart wheat and lightly tart orange. This moves into a still medium sweet middle with notes of lightly tart wheat, tart and sweet peach, light clove, orange zest and faint lemon in the background. Finish is lightly sweet with medium notes of clove, orange zest, tart wheat and softly sweet malt with light lemon in the background. Aftertaste is sweet and bready malt and clove. Overall impression of flavor is of a good witbier, but one that is a bit simple and a bit too heavy on citrus without as much malt and yeast character as it should have. Not bad, but lacking a little. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation, light creaminess and a bit of a drying finish. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good, true to form witbier. Overall this is a good witbier. Better than almost all the American macro examples, not quite as good as Hoegaarden or the craft offerings. Refreshing and pleasant, but not the best in any category. Still worth trying.

This is a solid witbier. It is refreshing, zesty and the citrus flavours seem real, rather than artificial. I'm pleasantly surprised with the overall flavour. Definitely something to add in to the rotation for next summer!

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of skunk, artificial citrus, perfume, and slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus juice, artificially flavored citrus candy, and slight spice flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a below average beer with odd skunk and fake citrus qualities that make this one a bit hard to drink much of.

Serving type: bottle.

330 ml blue bottle purchased from LCBO for $2.25 CDN. Served cold into a Keith's pint glass.

Appearance - hazy pale yellowy color. Capped by just over a finger of fluffy white with fairly impressive retention. Moderate sticky lacing left behind.

Smell- peaches, apricots and some lemon zest. Not a ton else, but a well rounded fruity aroma.

Taste - pretty much the same as the nose, plenty of juicy peach and apricot flavor, with a touch of lemon coming through. Very refreshing and no bitterness whatsoever.

Mouthfeel - lively feel, relatively watery, with a slightly dry finish.

Overall - a different, very unique wit, that personally is a great beer in the summer, as the peach and apricot combination really stands out. Also bonus points for high level of accessibility.
