Notes/Commercial Description:

A very basic Witbier. Poured from a "Noxema blue" colored 11.2 oz bottle into a Weisen glass. Good size white head, spotty lacing and average head retention.

Aroma is malty, not much in the way of yeast or lemon. There is a little wheat bitterness.

Taste is similar. Malty, a little sweet, some balancing wheat bitterness and a little coriander.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp. A good summertime thirst quencher but nothing exceptional flavor-wise.

Bottle: an embossed crystal-blue 330mL bottle with a standard macro label. The hand-grip bottle and the frankly awesome blue takes it well past the half-way mark.

Appearance: pours a slightly hazy light straw yellow with a persistent white hea that hangs about at one-finger. Fine carbonation and brilliant, thick lacing.

Aroma: the usual witbier aromas of citrus, coriander and plenty of wheat. Decent.

Taste: again a reasonable witbier - wheat with coriander, and a light citrus over the top. Not mind-blowing, but quite pleasant.

Aftertaste: a touch of wheat fug with some hop bitterness. A touch of yeast too.

Mouth feel: very nice at this price - better than pretty much any witbiers at AU$50 a case of 24 x 330mL bottles.

Overall: a pretty good witbier - not the most amazing I have ever had, but for AU$50 a case of 24 x 330mL bottles (2014), this one is well worth it. A good all-rounder.

330 ml blue bottle served in a snifter.

Aroma: lihtly spicy with a pronounced note of ripe arpicot.
Orange and apricot dominate the flavor, with some wheat underneath. Very good sweet/tart mix, with faint bitterness in the aftertaste.

Soft lively carbonation nicely complements the medium-light body.

O: a soft, French vounterpart to Magic Hat #9

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer has a hazy glowing lemon yellow body with a sticky soft peaked snow white head and a gentle carbonation gliding to the surface.

S- The big perfume aroma of apricots and some softer club soda notes finish with a papery aroma.

T- The faint peach stone note leads to a soft dry tartness in the finish. There is a dry flowery taste that lingers with a soft little carbonic acid note.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a texture that feels very flat on the tongue and is a bit odd.

O- This beer has some nice apricot and peach characters that are soft enough to be very drinkable but still has a sort of artificial quality to them. It was nice to drink a 6-pack of this but there is something that is just a little off, and I would prefer a more natural yeast ester profile.

Poured a cloudy golden body, true to style, with a thin white head, a bit under in fullness for the style. Not bad, but lacking. Scents of lemon juice, light Belgian yeast spiciness, orange zest, hints of clove and lightly sweet malt. Overall impression of aroma is of a very citrus-forward witbier with just a touch of the other aromas of the style. Enticing, yet different. Flavor begins medium sweet with notes of peach, melon and light clove and, light tart wheat and lightly tart orange. This moves into a still medium sweet middle with notes of lightly tart wheat, tart and sweet peach, light clove, orange zest and faint lemon in the background. Finish is lightly sweet with medium notes of clove, orange zest, tart wheat and softly sweet malt with light lemon in the background. Aftertaste is sweet and bready malt and clove. Overall impression of flavor is of a good witbier, but one that is a bit simple and a bit too heavy on citrus without as much malt and yeast character as it should have. Not bad, but lacking a little. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation, light creaminess and a bit of a drying finish. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good, true to form witbier. Overall this is a good witbier. Better than almost all the American macro examples, not quite as good as Hoegaarden or the craft offerings. Refreshing and pleasant, but not the best in any category. Still worth trying.

This is a solid easy drinking not overpowering witbeir....I'm not a huge fan of Wits...so a subtle one will rate higher than over done one. The beer poured a cloud yellow with white head that is leaving a lace. The scent and taste does have orange zest and some spice. The mouth feel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its decent.

Purchased at the LCBO for $2.75 for a 473ml can. Served at 4deg C in a challis

A- 4.0- Opens well and pours a nice white head that stays a bit. Unfiltered and very light

S- 3.75- Rather light. Coriander. Sour

T- 3.25- Lemon hits you right away. Citrus galore. Unbalanced

M- 3.25- Sour. Bit over carbonated

O- 3.57- Not much more than this. Ok white but way too much citrus for me.

Food Pairing

This ok white beer went well with..... Corned beef sandwiches. Nice pickle on the side

Enjoy
