Kronenbourg 1664 was named after the year the Hatt family, the founders of Kronenbourg. Itis the fifth oldest beer brand in the world that still exists today.

Its golden hues and delicate bitterness come from selecting the best hops, the 'Strisselspalt', and the unique know-how of Kronenbourg’s master brewers for over 300 years.

Strisselspalt is also named the caviar of hops by the expert master brewers around the world for its low bitterness and aromatic qualities. Its specific soil and culture technique requirements makes it rare and quite unique to the Alsace Region and Kronenbourg recipes.

11.2 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Two-finger white foamy head retains fairly well and leaves good lacing. Pour is a clear, pale straw color.

S - Sweet corn and cereal, some faint toastiness.

T - Corn and sweet malts with a slightly floral finish.

M - Light body with medium carbonation works well, fairly crisp and dry.

D - A simple European lager, but it's pretty refreshing if that's what you're looking for.

Probably the most watery-tasting beer I've experienced in Europe. Nothing offensive about it, it's certainly drinkable, but very bland and forgettable.

11.2 ounce bottle into a pilsner glass. Had 1/23/24.

Pours a clear, pale golden color, with a three inch spongy foam head on an average pour with great retention and a good amount of foamy lacing. Active carbonation. Aromas of yeast, wheat, some malt. Smells lightly floral and sweet. Flavors of yeast, malt, some wheat, light clove, light banana at first. Tastes lightly floral and herbal. Smooth, a decent light body, well carbonated.

Not bad. For me, the yeast and wheat notes stand out.

Clear golden straw color with a minimal white head that provides minimal lacing. The nose features cereal grains and a subtle hop note.

The cereal grains are most prominent on the taste, and there’s a bit of grass as well. Nice clean, crisp mouthfeel, this is a pale Euro lager worth trying.

Had this on the train to Strasbourg from CDG, as well as all over the eastern side outside of Strasbourg. Fairly cheap, found all over France, and actually a decent beer when found on draft or in the can. Unfortunately, in the states, you're mostly getting the green bottles. They aren't near as good. As with green and clear bottles, there's skunkiness. Hopefully we'll see the cans and draft here in the states one day.

Six-pack purchased at Malua Bay IGA in January 2024 and drunk a few days later.

L: Brilliantly clear golden yellow in the glass. No head, but that might have been a less-than-clean glass, along with very large but sparse bubbles.

S: Sweet malt, butter.

T: Buttery, sweet, earthy, bitter, but strangely compelling. The aftertaste is long and sweet. It's an easy, if very flawed, drinker.

M: Soft mouthfeel with medium levels of carbonation. That carbonation, along with the bitterness, helps overcome the beer's sweetness.

O: Compared to craft lagers, this falls far short of the mark, but as with all things, it has its place. There's no challenge in drinking this, and it's not so horribly sweet or disproportionately bitter that drinking it is a chore. It would likely go down very well for the beer-drinking everyman while unlikely to ever win any craft brewing or beer aficionado plaudits.

Cheers!

Consumed at a brasserie in Paris. Clear straw with nice head and carbonation. Not much on the nose other than a slight biscuit. It is easy and o drink with a nice finish.

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle, the body is a clear, bright yellow. Good initial had and very good lacing. Nice looking beer.

Aroma is grainy with a touch of green bottle skunk and clover.

Taste is a light malt, bready and a wee bit sweet. There's a light hop presence balancing the malt sweetness.

Strong carbonation out of the bottle, but fizziness is normal after a brief period. Mouthfeel is soft and easy.

No frills lager that is okay.

Pours from the can a clear golden yellow, huge, pillowy 3" head with excellent retention and chunky lacing; hard to look much better than this. Nose is light lemon, bread dough, lemongrass, straw; overall, however, there is not much expression on the nose. Taste, however, offers a touch more; mildly sweet pale malt and sourdough bread. Feel is very soft and light with a moderately full body for the style. Overall, looks and feels great, while entirely unobjectionable in terms of aroma and taste. Makes for great summer afternoon quencher.

Clean, carbonated straw colored and a nice aromatic, short lived head. It's slightly skunky smelling but has a crisp, clean taste. Rather light compared to my usual IPA. Sharing a French beer Celebration with @RaulMondesi and his anniversary. CHEERS! Overall it's actually a fine light brew. I'd buy them again.
