From the general reviews and comments I have read of this beer, I have been left with the impression that this drink should have a floural aroma and a bitter aftertaste. This could be one of those mass produced brews that still retains a high quality. However I was dissapointed after trying this out.
I had to sip this brew a few times before I conclude that the flavour is rather too modest or lacking. The taste is neither floral nor bitter. I conclude that the sweetness is the first thing that hit me, followed by a rather bland middle and a sour after taste. I was very much hoping to taste some bitterness but its definatley not there. This beer left nice lacing though, and it left traces at the sides of the glass like rock layers at the Niagara escarpment. Another plus is that this beer taste clean, but then definately not as clean as something like Heineken, which at least has a decent bitterness.
Overall, this beer is greatly lacking in character.

DATE REVIEWED: June 21, 2014... GLASSWARE: Blanche de Chambly pokal... OCCASION: Willow Lake orientation day...APPEARANCE: cascading bubbles round out a clear golden body; thick white head--exhibits excellent white cloudy lacing... AROMA: fragrant Saaz with soft lemongrass and some wheat yeasts--fresh and energizing (and unexpected)... PALATE: soft, almost creamy champagne-like (unavoidable comparison?) and smooth; light, clean, dry aftertaste... TASTE: a bit maltier than anticipated; refreshing with some fruitiness and honey accents... OVERALLL: a surprisingly strong profile for a beer--a French beer, at that--I had long forgotten since our trip abroad in '03..this beer poured fresh, presented well, cleansed the palate as a pilsner is apt to do, and offered just enough flavor to elicit a satisfied night....
