I stopped into Daveco Liquors today after work to see what it's all about. I had no idea it was the world's largest but I was amazed when I stepped inside.

The place is absolutely huge. It's not as big as a Lowe's or Target but it's probably as big as our local mega grocery stores like King Soopers (Kroger).

The only disappointing thing was that the beer selection was (relatively) small. I usually shop Wilbur's in Fort Collins and I still believe they have the better beer selection.

That being said, I did like the case prices on everything and the discounts were pretty good. It seems like most places have the same markup but there were some deals on 12 packs and even better if you bought two.

Service was average and, by that I mean, not that good. No one offered to help or said hello. The girl at the checkout was friendly though.

Overall a very decent place for beer hunting but the really rare stuff is still only at Wilbur's and LiquorMax.

They have a good beer selection, one of the best liquor and wine selections in the midwest, and no one beats them on price. This is one of our yearly stops when we pass through Denver on vacation. Its worth a stop if you are in the area.

I stop in from time to time... The craft selection is very slim, mainly a mass amount of domestic package. A slim selection of craft and bombers, a few rare gems if you look hard. Lots of out of date stock, empty shelves, etc. Nobody to help, so don't expect help AT ALL. The staff are rude too! However, I did leave with a 2012 BA Ruffian. Yes, 20 bottles sitting on the shelf so that makes up for the lack of everything else. On occasion I do get some Russian River, but you have to peak through the cooler in the employee only area and ask someone, if you can find them.. Basically a corner store selection, but 100X the size.

I drive by here once a week for softball and decided to stop in and see whats doing. Should have listened to the reviews here as they are spot on. They do have a decent selection of quality beer but nothing to write home about. What is impressive is the sheer volume of beer they carry, there's a whole section of the store with pallets of beer. However, this volume is something of a downfall as well as they apparently have a tendency to let their stock get out of date. I was going to check out a few random bottles to see how fresh they were out of curiosity but a row of Summit winter variety packs answered this question for me (note that it is almost June). Service was pretty bad too. There was a dude working in the beer section who looked at me and went back to whatever he was doing, no acknowledgment, no hello, nothing. I know I'm not writing anything earth shattering here but decided to add a review just to increase the sample size.

Daveco sure is big. It's located way north of Denver in a shopping area full of big box stores. This store is huge and fits in perfectly.

Inside Daveco, you'll find what is essentially a warehouse of liquor. In the back of the store is an L shaped section of beer coolers. It's filled with at least one of everything. Of the nice selection of imports, Belgians are the highlight. The US craft brews are nothing out of the ordinary, but they can be had in tremendous quantity. I was worried about the age of some of the stock, as there were an awful lot of "Winter" beers on the shelf for late April. If you wander around long enough, you'll find more US craft, plus imports out on the floor. What really frightened me were the humongous displays of Bud Light and the like. There were enough suitcases of the stuff sitting around to intoxicate a small army. How much BMC do these people sell in a day?

Prices here have big variability. Import and craft prices were on par with other Denver area stores, but low end beer prices were; well, low end. If I needed to stock up on PBR, this would be the place to hit.

The staff at the counter was nice, but no one was out on the floor to help. The guy at the checkout noted that I was buying some of the "fancy" beers, so I'm guessing that the big stuff is their stock and trade.

I came away from Daveco rather conflicted. The import selection was nice, but I was really questioning the quality of the stock. Quantity doesn't always equal quality.

Okay...obviously a bit of bad info on my part. Daveco is Davidson's Liquor? Okay...now that I've grasped that I'll be okay.

Big store, not a whole lot of rare beers, the ones that are rare are pretty hard to find too. Really nice layout though. Definitely a huge volume of beer. Parking is terrible. For a building that large, you'd think it would be an easier parking lot to get in and out of.

Service was subpar to say the least, I had a quick question, and was re-directed to 3 different people before asking the question to quickly be ignored, I asked the question twice more, before being told I had to talk to one more person. Once I met up with said person, my problem was resolved (Searching for an 08 bottle of The Abyss). Really inefficient and frustrating. Also having to talk to the right person that will get you in touch with the right person to take you back to the secret stash (not that impressive really), was just ridiculous.

The selection of beer was pretty large, lots of beers that I had seen just about every where else in Colorado, but the overall volume is huge. As far as singles/limited release stuff, not a whole lot on the shelves that struck me as wow! never seen this before/i've really been looking for this. A fair selection of imports and craft beers though.

Overall I think the store is a little too upper crust for me. People in there were pushy, snobby, and not helpful. I think when it comes to hitting up Colorado beer stores I'll stick with Wilbur's and Liquormax.

Also...online ordering, it absolutely does not work, they won't reserve beer for you, they didn't even acknowledge the online ordering until I talked with the guy who led me to the secret stash, who said, "Don't even bother, its a waste of time and doesn't work"

My first and only visit to Daveco at this point and after reading the reviews I was not sure what to expect.

Went in and was virtually unnoticed, my son is with me so sometimes I appreciate that.

Easy to find the beer though at first it seemed like a lot of pomp for what I was seeing.

After wading through the displays and getting to the coolers (should have gone there first) I began to see what I was looking for.

Good selection of sixers as well as singles in the cooler.

Virtually no assistance while in the store, though that is better than someone who doesn't know what they are talking about trying.

Service improved when I made it to check out, everyone was very nice and even were attentive to my son.

All in all, I would go back for the selection not necesarily the service.

Visited during my trip to Denver back in early December. It was pretty close to my buddy's place so went here instead of the usual place I visit when in town. The store was huge. It was easily double the size of what you get in Dallas. Unfortunately, most of the space went to wine and liquor. They do have a large beer selection but with all that space it could have been much better. The beer coolers are along half of the right hand side way and then about a 1/3 of the back wall. They had a good selection of bombers but really didn't see any that I hadn't seen in other places. They barely had a singles section which sucked as I was wanting to pick up several singles to ship back. The other place I normally hit has a great singles selection so I was disappointed that due to time limitations this would be the only store I could hit. Loaded up on bombers but missed getting my Ft Collins Brewing fix.

Bought about 20 bombers and all had good dates and appeared to be in good shape.

An employee who claimed to be the beer manager came over about halfway thru our 45 min visit to see if we needed help and mainly to tout his selection and beer knowledge. Seemed very full of himself. He also made several claims about certain beers leaving the state and that we better buy them now or we'd be out of luck that turned out to be untrue. He claimed that Russian River was a one-time allocation and wouldn't be sold any longer in Colorado. The next day we went to Falling Rock and talked with Chris and mentioned that and he said that was completely untrue (and since he was instrumental in getting RR here he'd know) and that they were here to stay.

Overall, a good but not great store. Visit if you are already close but don't go too far out of the way.

We made the trip out to Daveco from Boulder because we just had to see it for ourselves. Wow what a waste of gas. The place is huge alright, but what's the point of having a huge liquor store if what you're going to do with it is make some 1,000 case display of Coor's Light... It's a little ridiculous.

Rumor around the GABF was Daveco had all sorts of great beer that couldn't be found anywhere else in Colorado, if by great beer they meant "old and been there since Daveco opened" then yes they did. I didn't see anything exciting or new, but rather stuff I can find at the 27 liquor stores in Boulder. There was quite a bit of outdated stuff sitting around on the shelf and not really any of the new and exciting things I expected.

I tried to ask someone about their selection; I had to wander around the massive store for quite a while before I found someone who worked there and when I finally did, he was incredibly rude and short with me. It really wasn't appreciated at all. When I went to make my purchase, I was rudely snapped at because apparently they have a credit card limit, that's not posted anywhere, and I didn't know that. On top of being rude, the staff didn't seem to know anything about anything in their store.

I guess if I lived by there (which nobody does it's in the middle of nowhere) I may go back again if I needed a keg of Bud Light or something, but seeing as how I don't, I wouldn't come close to wasting my time going in there again. The rudeness of the staff was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.

I'm in here quite a bit as its close to home. The beer selection is pretty good, and has gotten better since opening. Being huge doesn't mean they have any better selection than the other big stores in the area, just a larger display of each. They are a bit slow to get new releases, and a singles selection would be nice. My main complaint would be the service. There are a couple guys in the beer department who are friendly and helpful, but when it comes to special orders you are referred to management. At best, they seem annoyed - at worst, outright rude. Even the presence of the managers in the store is unfriendly.

Teach your managers some people skills, add a singles selection - and Daveco could be top notch. As it is I'll still shop there out of convenience, but would prefer other places.
