Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, and citrus aromas. There is a bit of a rose smell as it is being poured but none once it is settled in the glass. Taste is much the same with malt and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and somewhat medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but seems unrefined.

I bought a bomber of Rosebud in a bottle shop. $6.49. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a deep bronze color, cloudy, with a small but resilient head. The foam has 2 colors, a stark white in the center a beige color near the edges. Particles floating in the beer.

Smell is a sweet pine aroma, but with an ever sweeter sugar arome along side.

Taste is a sweet malt an molasses flavor up front, followed by a mildly bitter citrus and molasses flavor.

Mouthfeel is full bodied for the style and slightly cloying. Light carbonation.

Not a bad brew, but maybe better out of the summer season. Filtering wouldn't hurt either.

22oz bottle.

Pours murky amber with an inch-plus head of bone. Ripped to shreads lacing and a solid skim coat for the duration of the glass.

Aromatics feature a base of pine and sweet malt. Light roast akin to heavy use of crystal malt. Fairly faded and lackluster in the hop department for an IPA.

Medium bodied with a slightly prickly mouthfeel.

Roasted malt with a firm, slightly coarse bitterness starts the palate. Piney hops with traces of cardboard and dusty baords. A bit woody and earthy with plenty of sweet, roasty malt.

Finishes with a lingering bitterness, pine bark, roast, and wet cardboard.

This beer drinks like a very faded imperial red.

Second beer I've had by this name in the past couple of days.

This was more malt dominated than your average IPA. I really liked leafer madness so I was hoping for more from this but found myself a little disappointed. It was by no means a drain pour, but I just can't think of much to say about this beer to make it stand out. Okay, but not worth paying to try. It reminded me much more of a very good homebrewer's IPA than a professional brewery's.

Look: Pours a very nice ruby red color with at least a 1 inch head and great retention and lace

Smell: Toffee caramel and some floral hops

Taste: The IPA is actually very malt forward which is similar I would say to Knuckle Sandwich in that way. You get a nice amount of caramel and biscuit to go along with just a slight presence of hops

Mouthfeel: Medium body and medium carbonation levels

Overall: This was actually kind of a nice change of pace from all the hop forward IPA's this one is definitely worth a shot.

Pours murky amber with a good three fingers of off white head. Copious lacings. Aroma is just fine. Taste is plentiful malts with just the right amount of rich hops. The malts are more than average for this style. Hop bombers beware. Those in search of a balanced IPA give this a try.

Sampled on tap at 1702 Tucson, AZ; May 2011
The beer arrives with a murky amber color, that shows a touch of copper to it when held up to the light. It is topped by a frothy, dense, light tan colored head that leaves some nice lacing on the sides of my glass. The nose smells of a mix of crystal malt and hops, and is definitely a bit too malty for an IPA that fits my ideal; the crystal malt focus is really what I could personally do without. The hops contribute aromas of grapefruit zest, a slightly metallic note as well as some herbal character and a fair amount of pine aromatics. Not a horrible nose by any means, but it does have a bit too much crystal malt.

The flavor lives up to the promise of the nose with lots crystal malt derived flavors; this is certainly toasty, with a sweet tea like flavor as well as ample notes of caramelized bread character. The hop character is well (perhaps even overly) balanced by the malt character, but one certainly notices flavors of orange zest, pine, and a general herbal character as well as a solid bitterness. The bitterness in the finish can be a bit harsh and vegetal at times. The body of this is not overly heavy, especially considering the crystal malt, but isn’t quite as light as I would prefer.

In the end this beer is just a bit too discordant; the crystal malt character clashes with the hop notes, and even the hop character alone can get a bit jarring.

Nice amber colour with a big, vigorous white head. Floral, hoppy smell with nice rounded malts that are quite pleasant and impart an English character to this.

The hops are a bit stronger in the taste, mellowing the malts a bit. Nice floral character, mellow biscuit flavour, good hop zest. Mild, warm English malt character.

A bit heavy-handed on the carbonation, but its not out of control. A bit thick, but not out of style.

Rosebud appears dark amber with a light tan colored head.

It smells initially of orange and caramel malts. There is a bit of a grassy hop smell as well. I also get a little bit of a fruity yeast type of a smell. There is also a bit of toasty nutty malts noticeable in the smell.

It tastes initially a bit toasty and a bit fruity. I get a bit of an orange like citrus flavor. There is a nice bitter flavor and a bit of a subdued floral flavor. I get a bit of a fruity yeasty flavor. This reminds me of a very hoppy English style IPA. It is quite smooth and well balanced.

The carbonation is moderate low and it has a very smooth and thick mouthfeel.

The drinkability is pretty good for how thick and rich the beer is I could drink a few of these.

This is a great English inspired IPA. This would be fantastic on cask. This is worth picking up a bottle or two.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a semi-hazy orangeish-amber color with about an inch of light tan head that had good retention and light lacing.

The aroma was a blast of floral and pine hops. There was a trace of malt in the background. The flavors weren't as bold as the aroma, but there was still a mouthful of hops. And a bit of malt stickiness on the finish.

The body was good, a bit fuller than typical, but not heavy. Drinkability was very good, if I were going to drink several of the same IPA in row, it could be this one.

Overall, it's a very good IPA. Worth seeking out.

On draught at the Dog & Pony, Rosebud IPA is murky, dark burnt orangish brown with a tight off-white head that leaves foamy lace.

Smell has a nice hoppiness to it, but unique for the local style. Spicy and earthy, some pine, also tropical fruits.

Taste is interesting, there's a nice sweet maltiness to it, but countered by a moderate-high hoppiness. For some reason, the first part of the taste makes me think of an English IPA...but then I get the big hops.

Mouthfeel is has a nice creaminess and medium body, a bit dry.

Drinkability is good, a nice, unique IPA. There's a bit of a tang the to malt that is leaning on the side of character, but cranked up a touch more would be a mistake.
