I visited Lone Star Beverages on the way from Dallas to Norman, OK on the recommendation from a friend and I'm so glad he steered me to them! What a great store and what great guys! Rick and Sam are obviously passionate about craft beer and they go out of there way to make sure you have a good experience. Upon entering the store, Sam and Rick asked me if there was anything in particular I was looking for and when I mentioned I was from out of town and looking for TX and OK beers that I cannot get back home, they proceeded to give me a personal tour of the store and highlighted local beers that I should try. As far as selection it seemed like they had pretty much everything you could want. Huge selection of beer in the front when you walk in and a huge walk-in beer cooler with 4 packs, 6 packs, bombers and 12oz singles that were all very well organized.

They also gave me great recommendations for places to eat and drink in the Dallas area. I ended up buying about a case and a half of beer and stopped back in on the way back to Dallas to purchase a shipper for the bottles that I did not drink over the weekend.

I've been in stores where you feel like you are bothering them for asking about certain beers etc but these guys were the complete opposite. It felt more like hanging with your craft beer friend who has been at it longer and has all the best beers and just wants to share that beer, enthusiasm, and passion with you. Cannot be said strongly enough: Great guys, great store. I will be back and I will be sending my friends as well. (1,560 characters)

Amazing selection that includes the walk-in chilled beer cave with 2 rooms stocked floor to ceiling with the best bombers, 6-packs, 4-packs, and singles available to Texas. Looking for something in particular? Ask for help from the great staff that truly know their brew. I also highly recommend that you check out both their Facebook and Instagram if you are looking for a rare release that you know is on the way. (415 characters)

This place is a diamond in the rough. You will not find a better place than this in the north dallas area. Sam and Rick run their store like I wish every store would. The first time I came in I really got a sense of them having an appreciation of the community as opposed to selling you their beer and then being on your way. They have a good sense of conversation and letting you know what has arrived and what beer is selling quickly so you can get your hands on some.
Weekly tastings and getting the freshest beers are what stands out to me about this place. Do yourself a favor, if you're in a reasonable radius (I live 20 miles away) make the drive, grab some beer, and chat with Sam and Rick. You'll be back (714 characters)

I can tell Rick takes great enjoyment in running one of the finest beer stores in the Southwest by the zeal he took in showing me around and making sure I didn't miss a thing. This attention to detail and customer service is something sorely missing in the craft beer world, as standoffish as it is. If other retailers took half as much effort and interest in the client, then there would be some more money to be made I'm sure, and some very sophisticated and happy consumers.

Ok, enough of the spiel, let's get to the details.

Beers up front and the rest is in the back as it should be. Has a section for new beers, and you get an idea of the overall selection as soon as you walk in due to product placement. Prices were missing on some of the beers, which did cause me to pass over a few. There's a huge walk-in fridge stocked with fresh, cold IPA and other fresh-centric brews from across the country, all sorted by geographical region. Rick pointed out some new locals, and after trying them I can say he was spot on.

Selection was excellent with a nice array from all the big wigs and quite a few gems from the large regionals (Brooklyn, Boulevard, Clown Shoes, Firestone etc.). Belgian/Foreign selection was also well-represented. Of course, all Texas breweries of consequence were out in force and lotsa Blakkr available. Prices were a tad higher than normal, but not excessive by any means. You get what you pay for, and I can't begrudge a man for charging for worth.

Can't wait to stop back in the next time I"m in the Big D. (1,544 characters)

This is the place I usually go to for beer. It's not super close to me either but it's always worth it. The people working there are always nice and know their stuff really well.

They are always doing special events, tastings, etc.

Lonestar has an AWESOME selection of beer and seems to always get the rare ones in as well (last time was Velvet Merkin, The Abyss, Bourbon County Stout, La Folie). (399 characters)

Stopped in to check out the selection and I was very in impressed for the DFW area. These two guys really know there stuff and are great people. This will be my "go-to" beer spot when I am in the Dallas area. If there is something you want but don't see certainly ask they are more than willing to help you find it. (315 characters)

The only place in North Dallas that gets everything.

A: Weekly beer tastings, well labelled selection with ratebeer scores for most beers, staff selections, this place has everything.

Q: Huge walk in cooler for customers to get cooled beer or same selection on non-cooled shelves, you can get exactly what you want here.

S: All the staff is very helpful, they will hold beers if they aren't extremely limited, answer all your questions and give good suggestions if you aren't sure what to try. They also drive to Houston and Austin to pick up beer that isn't distributed up to DFW, only place to get most of this stuff in North Texas, that fact alone should give them a world class rating.

S: Read above, only place in DFW to get a lot of Houston and Austin beer, and they get everything distributed to town.

F: N/A

Value: Its not hte cheapest, but you get what you pay for here. (886 characters)

This store's drive up makes you think of any other run of the mill beer store. (It's next to a CVS in a strip shopping center). However, your impression will change when you walk in. The selection of beer and wine are quite impressive when you walk in. However, there's more. Hidden in plain site is a huge double door walk in cooler filled with craft beer.

This store has tons of choices of really good Texas beers. If it's new and crafty and made in Texas they have it! They even have beers not distributed in Dallas. These guys make a trip down to Austin to get beers down there and bring them up to the Dallas area. For you Wisconsinites, they have Sprecher!

One thing I haven't mentioned yet is that they not only have good Texas beers but they have knowledgeable beer staff to help you find the beer that's right for you. They don't push you towards their most expensive beers in their place, they help you find the beer you tell them you want.

Mar is an awesome beer guy to talk to. He's highly ranked on RateBeer (i know the competition to BA) and he knows his beer. He's easy to talk to and full of knowledge.

If you're in the Carrollton area and looking for craft beer, you must stop here! (1,207 characters)

I was coming to the DFW area on business and posted on here asking for recommendations for a local place to check out a selection of brews. The guys sent an email to me saying I should stop by and see what they had. Nice selection however I could get the majority back home but the service was first rate!!! They had a few limited distro brews in the back that they made available to me as well. Real hospitality here and much appreciated. I would come back again when in town to see if I could throw them some business. Check em out if ur in town! (548 characters)

Stopped by for the first time on 4/26

A- Good friendly atmosphere

Q- They had a very good selection of top brewery offerings. They even held a BBA Anderson Valley Stout for me. A lot of places will not do that. I certainly appreciated that!

S- The guy working there was very helpful and showed me around their selections as soon as he found out it was my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised on how much they had.

S- They had an outstanding selection of Texas offerings. I haven't seen any Austin Beerworks or Karbach anywhere else in DFW. I also found several on my wants list (that I keep in my mind...lol) I really underestimated what I was going to find here. I spent $50 very quickly and could have easily spent more....lol!

V- I thought that the prices were in line with most places

This is a great spot and is a must visit when in the DFW area. They have great service and a great selection that makes for an easy time spending money. A must visit! (964 characters)

The owner's (co-owner?) name is Rick and he was working the counter when I came in. He has a top notch selection. Ask Rick for anything special you have in mind (or just ask him if he's holding any rarities in the back). He will physically go into the back and check for you. I went there, and he came back with St. Arnold DR10, 11, a bomber of DR12, Stone Mint chocolate stout, and gave me great recommendations when I couldn't decide between some beers. The guy and his store are Class A, 10/10, totally awesome. I can't say enough good things about him. Go check it out. Guarantee you will not be disappointed. (613 characters)

One of the best selections of craft beer in the DFW metroplex, with many hard-to-find beers in stock that you won't find anywhere else. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who will help you get what you're looking for. Great selection of keg beer also, especially local brews. Will be one of my first choices if I'm looking for something special or interesting. (358 characters)

Excellent and knowledgeable staff were able to help me select several specialty beers for my brother's birthday.

Matt spent a great deal of time helping me select the best beers according to my brother's interests.

Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable.

Would recommend Lone Star Beverages to anyone that is going to be in the DFW area! (345 characters)

Visiting from Oklahoma. I wanted to find something in Carrolton that could represent with some local beers and those not available in Oklahoma. I was very pleased with the selection. Great selection outside the beer cooler and a great selection inside. Had all the locals and regionals in 12 oz and bombers. The manager had many suggestions of the locals and what was new. He was extremely helpful. I will definitely return. When we said we were looking for a place to eat downtown before a concern, the manager suggested two places and then looked up the addresses and wrote them down for us. He did not have to do that. They also have beer tastings on Friday's from 5-8PM. Great for a novice or a more experienced beer collector. (731 characters)

I really like this store. I just went in here about an hour ago, expecting it to be another run of the mill BMC joint because of the appearance from the outside. Don't let yourself be fooled. This place has a really good selection. It's fall (well pretty much) so naturally I wanted some fall seasonal beers and walked in expecting to be disappointed. When you come in, there is a section on the left for singles, big bottles and imports that are not cold. There's a beer cave with plenty of good craft selections from Deschutes, DFH, Maui and a lot of Texas brews. They also do a mix a six for $9.99. Not a ton of selection on this but it beats paying $2.99 a bottle anywhere else. I checked out with my mix and asked the clerk (I think he was the owner) if they were expecting any DFH Punkin'. He walked to the back and brought me out a 4 pack. Told me that if I was looking for something rare or that it wasn't on the shelf just to ask and he would check for me. Really nice guy and overall, a really nice store. (1,015 characters)

Have been to this store a number of times recently, I love the place. They carry craft items that are not sold from other stores in the area. The staff is really knowledge of the products and more than willing to review and make suggestions with customers--they are not just sales people that work in the shop (which is a huge plus to me) they know the products. They also get rare items in and offer them out instead of holding on to them, just picked up a Weasel Rodeo from Jester King today-hope to see this store and customers grow so I don't have to make longer drives for craft items. Thanks LSB. (602 characters)

This is one of my favorite beer stores in Dallas ! The employees are very helpful and kind. The owner ( I think his name is Rick) is a true gem to the beer industry and will go out of his way to find what your looking for ! I was lucky enough to find some 512 double pecan porter among other limited beers!

I also buy kegs here from time to time and they always arrive quickly and are very fresh ! If you follow them on Facebook they always post their new releases day of and if you check in on foursquare you get a discount.

One of the best beer stores around...don't waste your time at Specs or Centenial (609 characters)

I visited this place on my way home from work and was unfortunatley dissapointed. They did have a good selection but not much better than Centennial or Goody Goody liquor. You have to walk into a cold refrigerator to check out the beer selection and most of the beers do not have prices on them. All of the beers they had I have seen at the forementioned liquor stores for a couple bucks cheaper. If you don't have a car and are in walking distance then this is a good place to go but if you have a car just go down the road to Centennial. (539 characters)

This place was a great find. I was fortunate to speak to the manager of this store and he was a true craft beer advocate. I mentioned I was on a business trip looking for awesome local Texas craft beer. He dung into his private stash and offered some really great beers. I'm definitely looking forward to tasting these treasures. Deep Ellum Dream Crusher IIPA and Saint Arnold Endevour.

They had a great selection of beer styles and the staff was educated in their selections.

I stopped at many Richardson, TX liquor stores and this was by far the top on my list. I look forward to visiting again in the near future. (618 characters)

It is a bit out of my way, but this is looking like it is going to be my favorite beer store in the Metroplex. I live in Fort worth and work in Dallas and Collin counties, but when I get the chance, I head to Lone Star Beverages. Best service in the area, and reasonably priced too.

It was a long shot, but just last week, after searching for 1-2 months for a bottle of Burton Baton, to no avail, I wander into Lone Star. After talking for a little while, I'm asked if I am looking for anything in particular. I mention Burton, expecting to hear a "yeah, right....". Instead, I end up walking out with 4 bottles. Made my day. (626 characters)

I think Lone Star Beverages is definitely a store to watch over if you are in the area. The owner was very passionate about beer and hopes to expand and bring growlers to Dallas in an effort to keep up with the growing Texas beer scene.

I think Lone Star Beverages had the best selection of Texas beer I've seen. That was definitely a big reason I wanted to visit since I'm not in Texas often and the beers here rarely leave the state. And the owner was a very helpful guy (he's also on BA). He sold me a bottle of Pumpkinator, which had been sold out for months. He additionally mentioned he will hold bottles if you ask.

In all, this store is recommended because I think it's the best beer store for providing local beers and the owner was a very generous and helpful guy. In addition, the store might be even bigger and better in the not too distant future. (862 characters)

Was recommended as one of the go-to places around Dallas to look for craft brews.

Had more of a corner store feel than I had imagined, but the selection was pretty nice. Strangely there were so many beers on the shelves but not many of each. Still, great selection. Found a couple brews I couldn't find anywhere else.

The manager/owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, we chatted about beer for quite some time before I left. He was also very helpful in suggesting other places to go on our beer hunt, and exchanged contact info with us for future use.

I will definitely stop by when I am in town again.

They also offer discounts for mentioning BA, and foursquare check-ins and following on facebook/twitter. (716 characters)

Have been looking for a place with an exceptional beer selection, and this wasn't it. This place was pretty much average. I'll give them this, their beer cooler is probably the coldest spot in DFW. I didn't see any beers I couldn't pick up at Market Street or Central Market. Actually they had less. Not a bad place if your looking for more than your corner gas station or local super market sells, but not by much. They did have a Sunner Kolsch that I had not seen before, so picked that up. Rest of the selection was your usual suspects of Stone, Avery, Chimay, etc... (570 characters)

Stopped by here on a recent trip through Dallas after it was recommended by a fellow BA member. Very nice store, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. They had some beer on the shelves but the best stuff was in the beer cave (which felt awesome after being in the 110 degree heat). I must say I was stunned by all of the good stuff in the beer cave. I was able to find Stone RIS and Jester King Drinkin in the Sunbelt which made my day. They also have a section of glassware which is any 2 glasses for $6. This will be my go-to place for sure on my next trip to Dallas! (569 characters)

I was really excited to hit this place after all the wonderful reviews...but I found it really lacking in selection. They had a few hard to finds, but mostly the selection was pretty bland. The walk in fridge had very few items with prices on them. One of the people that worked there said they didn't price them because they rotated stock so often, but that makes no sense. Just throw a sticker price on your beer. Items were reasonably priced, which was another reason to PRICE YOUR BEER.

I'm not sure what everyone saw in this establishment...maybe they just haven't been to that many places or I'm just too picky. Next time I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I'll skip this place. (685 characters)
