Another must visit as suggested by good mate JohnHW. I liked this even better than the New Inn. New Inn had a better interior but atmosphere and notably comfort were just better at the Fountain Inn. Large no-smoking section was the key. Lots of ambience all around and a friendly welcome awaits. Good selection of real ales in good condition including the stupendous Caledonian Deuchars IPA, pub is Cask marque listed. John is right, another must visit if in Gloucester and yes it is very close to the awesome cathedral.

Off Westgate, down an alley which opens up into a kind of small courtyard. tables and chairs fill the area in front of the pub. The L shaped bar is straight in front as you walk in. Beware of the slope to the right (towards the toilets), it is not advertised and can catch you unawares if you have had too many BOB's.

Only been in 3 times, but it has had top notch beers on offer each time, served by pleasant staff. I just love their Wickwar BOB, a local brew that is always on.

A very nice pub, can get a bit 'foody' at times though, which isn't indeal if you are on a mission!

This popular city centre pub is hidden away down a narrow ally, but with second entrance through wrought iron gates in an adjacent street. The interior is cosy and comfortable around an L shaped bar, with adjoining small rooms. The outside courtyard is busy with extra chairs and tables under umbrellas in fine weather and very popular with locals and tourists alike.

At least 4 real ales on hand pull available, which vary from time to time, in addition to the usual lagers, Guiness and ciders. The beers have always been consistently good on visits we have made here.

Service at the bar is fairly good, and the food menu is comprehensive and although a bit more pricey than some (being popular with tourists) the food is good and generous portions.

At mid-day in good weather always very busy inside and out, so you need to be there early to be sure of getting a seat.

Worth a visit when in Gloucester, and only a couple of minutes walk from the wonderful Cathedral.
