When first opened I took a whiff. Nothing special at all about the scent. I typically enjoy nut brown ales, but this one didn't do it for me. It tasted like a flat New Castle with some chocolate nut flavor added in.
Other than the taste, it's a good beer. A good amount of foam, decent mouthfeel, good enough drinkability.

Pint on tap at Carolina Brewing taproom in Wendell. Thin tan head, dark red-brown color. Aroma of rich roasted malt, nuts, cocoa, toffee, earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry finish. Flavors cocoa, caramel, roasted malt, dark fruit, earthy and herbal hops. Overall: very good.

From the bargain basket of an obscure convenience store off I-95 in SC. First one was flat and a drain pour, but the second one had some redeeming qualities. Only a dollar each, so what the hell.
Standard brown appearance with a small beige head and good lacing. Roasted malt aroma of chocolate and caramel. Mild nutty flavor, with stronger notes of chocolate, toffee and roasted grains. Subdued notes of dark fruits. Medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel leading to a lingering finish.

Fine example of a very drinkable brown ale. Malt forward with just enough hops to add a pleasant crispness/dryness. Only drawback is a somewhat weak mouthfeel - but overall, it smells and tastes like a nutty, malty, any time session beer.

Nutty aroma and taste. Toffee note too. Smooth texture. Lingering dry, malty finish. Very nice brown ale, although I wish it had a bit more carbonation.

With a dark amber-brown color, it is balanced and all-round for the style. It is nicely malt-forward with a light bread taste, pleasantly refreshing light biscuit and dried fruit aftertaste and a slightly light, but refreshing, mouthfeel. It’s a bit like having ice coffee! Not enough body like the Nut Brown Ale from Santa Fe Brewing Company, but still a good choice until Goose Island brings back their Nut Brown Ale!
