Wow! I really like this beer. It looks very nice; clear gold in the glass, although the head could stick around a little longer. Aromas are clean sweet malt and some element of toastiness. It really has a soft feel to it going in and the initial malt notes give way to a sweetness combined with a generous hop finish that is really well balanced. Very drinkable although I wouldn't want a bunch on a real hot day. Reminiscent of the Old Heurich lager. As an extra, added attraction the bottle caps have rebus puzzles on them.

Picked up a case (under the name Summer Stock Pils) while visiting friends in Scranton. Not a bad beer at all. The label has some nonsense about being a German style pils, but I think the flavor is plainly American. The malt is smoother, bready, and with just a hint of inoffensive corn. This is followed up by a grassy hop kick with a share of orange rind. The lager finishes with a mild, spicy bitterness. All in all, it seems like a tasty and somewhat traditional American take on the pilner.

Pours a perfectly clear light golden color with about a finger and a half of white head. Keeps only a thin lace although it's pretty full, with a splash of stick here and there on the sides as well.

Smell is pretty grainy and not terribly appealing, with some vague sweetness, a buttery aroma and a bit of grass. Meh; this is a pils?

Taste is slightly better although that's not saying much. There is a light sweetness to it with a bit of grassy hop flavor. Very little bitterness, and the mouthfeel is a slick medium body that is not as crisp as I'd like to see. It's maybe a bit undercarbonated, and just doesn't have the clean finish of many other, better pilseners. It also doesn't have nearly as much flavor, particularly hop flavor. It's just sort of blandly sweet; bland bland bland.

I bought a case of this expecting that it would be another really solid Stegmaier seasonal at a great price. It is cheap ($22/case), but it's not a very good beer. I'm a big fan of Steg's other seasonals and their new Pale Ale and IPA, but this just doesn't hold a candle to other SEPA pilseners and is just not very good. Even at the price I don't think I'll be buying this again; I'd rather spend 50% more for any of the far better pilseners that are readily available in this area.

I had a few of these on tap last evening so I thought I would give it a review. The appearance is golden and very clear. No haze at all. The smell is pretty non existant but does produce a faint malt smell. The taste was standard but a little heavy on the malt for me. Ample carbonation provide a decent mouthfeel. All-in-all, this is a pretty basic pilsner. Nothing bad, nothing overly exciting. I would drink this again if the situation warranted.

A- Pilsener pale yellow. Almost like a Helles.
S- Sharp clean sweet smell.
T- Easy drinking. A little on the plain side. Small hop flavor.
MD- A little to light. For the price this is a great buy. Easy drinking, even the typical BMC fans would enjoy this beer. A great summer session beer. Thanks to Tom D, Stegs biggest fan, for passing a few bottles on to me.

This beer is a year old and didn’t stink. I don't see any signs of staleness given its age. $8.50 a case (Brewskies, East Stroudsburg) is a great deal for this easy drinking, crisply carbonated beer which has some corn, grass, grain and lemon flavors. The texture is slightly creamy. The watery lager factor is here as with a macro but this to me has a sweetness that macros strive towards.

Poured into a tall victory pilsner glass. 1.5" rocky white head that leaves lacing all the way down. Clear golden in color.

Smell of grains hints of hops and a touch of honey.

Traditional tasting lager with an added bonus of hop notes and just a touch of honey. Finishes slightly buttery.

Lightly carbonated on the tongue goes down smooth.

Easy drinking lager I've been slurping on all summer.

"Nuther good product from Steggy.

The Lion's Stegmaier Summer Stock Lager pours a clear golden body with an orange cast and a frothy head of white. The head holds fairly well before dropping to a whispy (but complete) surface covering; and it leaves some minor, but nice, splashes of lace in its wake.

The aroma exhibits a grainy (husky) maltiness and lemon rind along with some mild lager yeast sulphur (that's to be expected).

In the mouth it's medium-light bodied and gently crisp with a moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation.

The flavor is as the nose suggests, with a hay-like, grainy, and wheatish maltiness upfront; some gently acidic and refreshing lemon flavor across the middle; and some grassy, leafy, and spicy hops in the firmly bitter and dry finish.

Nicely done! A refreshing summer lager that has just enough lemon character to grab your attention and add some spark without becoming overbearing.

Poured a crystal clear pale golden color with moderate white puffy head. Smell is lightly of malt with a pleasant citrus background scent. Taste is also lightly malty with an enjoyable balance of hops. Nice refreshing mouthfeel. Very drinkable on a hot summer afternoon.

Cases finally showed at my distributor on Memorial day weekend after hearing about this Lion offering.
Appearence-strawlike color and poured a 1/2" head which fades to a thin white lasting haze.
Smell-spicy floral hopiness.
Taste-Leaves a nice combination of maltiness and hop (on the dry side) long after sipping.
Mouthfeel-Carbonation tingles the mouth just right.
Drinkability-Very good. Based on hearing it was made with no corn as I believe their Lionhead Deluxe Pilsner is, I almost think this is Lionhead without the corn but a more tastier version with more hops. I'd like to sample this on tap. Should be an excellant summer party keg.

A- Golden hue with thin white head. Some lacing in glass.

S- Clean grassy aroma with malty backbone

T-Crisp, clean taste with tiny hop bite in the back end.

M-Decent body with nice mouthfeel

D- Overall this is a nice straight forward beer that will appeal to the masses. Great beer for grilling or hanging outside to enjoy the summer weather. No bell and whistles here, just a good everyday brew. I paid $18.99/cs for this and it is a great value for he price. Purchased at Epp's in Limerick,PA.The Lion has really stepped up to the plate with their seasonal offerings. Can't wait to see what they brew for the Fall and Winter.

Pale straw in color, pours nicely out of the bottle and forms a thick frothy head that slowy disspates. Aroma is of fragrant hops with a slight trace of an corn adjunct.

Smooth and nicely fizzy with pleasant hop bitterness followed with refreshing sweetness from malt. Very little trace of adjunct. Nicely balanced with a dry and crisp finish. Thirst quenching summer lager. Excellent on a warm spring day.

12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date to be found.

A- Bright and shiny golden straw color, clarity is fine but the head lacks a little ... the thin ring of lace does stay for a while.

S- Dough malt aroma, lemony hops and slight husk in the back.

T&M- Solid and refreshing crispness, light to moderate body. Dual bite from the grain and hop bitterness go head to head with a mild maltiness for a good balance. Lemony, spicy and herbal hop flavor is mellow in the dry finish.

D- This is a sure fit for a hot summer day, finally light flavorful lager. Paired well with a Italian Tuna sub with hot pepper relish.

Pours a clear light golden color, with a pure white head that dissipates quickly to a dusting of foam. Nice hop nose, especially when sampled from the bottle, which nicely rounds out the taste of the malts. A very clean, crisp, smooth, well-balanced taste too. This one is pure summer, and at under $20 a case, a great and economical way to satisfy your tastebuds. I have to admit I was leery about trying this beer, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I'll definitely look for more Lion offerings (esp their seasonals) in the future.
