Stegmaier India Pale Ale is an American IPA with an attitude! It is brewed with American malts and aggressively hopped with three varieties of American hops – Centennial, Cascade, and Nugget. This IPA has an assertive hop presence and a strong malt backbone. Stegmaier IPA uses a quarter ton of hops, which balance the malt sweetness and make this brew a hop lover’s delight!

This is how I remember IPA's tasting.
Well balanced.
I could easily drink several in one sitting.
Thank you Lion Brewing for the flash back to the golden era of brewing!

Had this on draft.
A: pours orange amber body with a small white head with nice retention and lacing
S: subtle grapefruit smell, but not much else to it
T: subtle grapefruit tasting beer with some sweet, slightly toasted biscuit malt taste; taste is a little on the thin side
M: medium bodied and fairly crisp and refreshing
D: ok mouthfeel and taste combo; ok drinking beer overall, but nothing overly impressive

Pours cloudy amber color with a 2+ finger thick foamy tan head that was packed with tiny bubbles, dissipating very slowly and leaving good foamy lacing. Smells of toffee, roasted grains, caramel, faint floral notes, tea leaf, hints of fruit and earthy notes make this seem like an English IPA straight from London. Decent for an English IPA, weak for an American IPA.
To me this is classified wrong here on BA as it is sweet and malty, with lots of caramel, toffee, graham cracker and buttery notes which to me is an English IPA. "Aggressively hopped with three varieties of American hops – Centennial, Cascade, and Nugget." That did not come through, but some floral notes, tea leaf and butterscotch did. Too sweet tasting overall and not something I'd revisit.

Stegmaier IPA pours a cloudy bronze color, with a decent sized head. Grainy and cheap aroma, chemically and earthy. Flavor is grainy cheap chemically, very earthy and harsh. Body is full. Overall, not for me, earth flavors a way too much.

Deep amber colored body sporting a thick, creamy head; a bit hazy with lots of small bits of trub bouncing around with the carbonation. Very malty aroma interlaced with some spicy hop notes. Strong malt flavor; lots of caramel notes; hop bitterness builds slowly and then dominates the finish. Heavy body; coarse on; dull sweetness but with an overall dry feel.
This beer strikes me as more like an English IPA instead of an American IPA. It definitely has a clear malt presence, caramel with a low-key sweetness throughout, but it also has a heavy hop bitterness. It doesn't deliver much in the way of any pine, citrus, or floral hop aroma or flavors, just a strong bitterness. A good choice for someone interested in a malty IPA with a bold bitterness.

Thanks for gifting me with this Eric. Pounder can into tumbler appears dark copper with rich tan cap that persists leaving patchy lace.
Aroma is sweet caramel malt with fruity hops. Little bit of minerals also noted.
Tastes bitter with caramel malt and mineral laden aftertaste. Its oily but with a familiar feel to the aftertaste almost like malt extract.
Medium in body with modest carbonation. This is average at best.

L - pours a solid deeply brown orange. Slightly opaque with a super fluffy sticky head. Fantastic lacing!
S - aroma is a pungent malt burn up front. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to smell, but either way, it doesn't bode well. Has a very earthy, grassy smell. Crabgrass?
T - taste is better than the nose, but only up front. Sweet malts that make it seem like a potent amber ale. Grainy and yeasty. More earth. Finish is all bitterness, but rather abrasive. No finesse.
F - one of the better aspects of this beer. Soft and pillowy from the moment it hits your lips. Low carbonation and smooth and creamy without being syrupy, due to the light and airy character. A deceiving mouthfeel.
O - it's... a beer. Not the worst but it really lacks refinement. Kinda boring, powerful flavors, but not a lot of them. Strong bitterness. This'll wallop you in the face, especially at 6.7%.

Not a hop bomb by any means and certainly more malty/biscuits than I expect for this style. Bitter. Cloudy orange amber.
Drink this beer with food, in particular, something cheesy or creamy seems to make the beer's happiness, which is hidden by the malt, stand out.
My grandfather used to drink Stegmaier and that's why I picked this beer to drink.

A pretty average IPA. It is not too thin and it has bitterness. That makes it do-able!!! pours a fairly clear copper color with a small white head (average retention) and wide bands of lacing on the glass. Smell is pretty weak, maybe a little grassy hops. Taste is better. Mostly grassy but some piney hops, some dry biscuity malt. The bitterness is the major attraction. Mouthfeel is fairly light, but not watery. Not a great IPA, but I would drink one again, nothing wrong with it.

I've had some better, many worst, this is my go to IPA. First mouthful after a rough day is like heaven. Low price keeps some snobs away, I don't mind...
A: reddish brown, almost like an Irish ale
S: Light hoppy, not much else
T: Nice bitter taste, goes through your whole body on first sip..
M: Lighter body than most IPA's , don't let it fool you.
O: Double the price and people will say what hidden gem... but don't do that

A: Medium brown in color, very little head, and what is there dissipates almost immediately.
S: Malt centric with a lot of caramel and toffee some light hoppiness in there in the form of orange peel, but man you have to search for it.
T: Holy malt. This is a very malt centered beer for being an IPA. There is a bit of residual bitterness in the the finish, but for the most part it tastes like slightly overdone toffee. I can get into malt centric IPA's as well as hop bombs, and this one misses the mark.
M:Medium body with fairly high carbonation.
O: Overall just a huge miss, not even very enjoyable aside from not meeting style characteristics. Not bad, just not good.
