12 oz bottle. No code to be found on bottle..

Pours a clouded, hazed honey color. A white head soon turns into a ring. Sort of a scummy film on top. I can see a few bubbles. Smell is an orangey potpourri. From the taste, I can definitely pick up on the coriander. A decent, syrupy wheat backing in plce. Finshes citrusy and bitter. This beer tastes better than it looks. While not a bad offering, there are just plenty others out there that at least accomplish the same thing.

Poured two of the three bottles from my sampler pack into a huge Hoegaarden glass, deep clouded orange golden hue with chunks of yeast susspended in it. Head is bright white, but dwindles rather quickly. Aroma contians up front citrus peel notably orange peel with some piercing coriander. To me witbier is supposed to be something you have to take your next sip of and it should be as refreshing as a glass of lemonade, this one is a bit burdensome almost cloying residual sugars as you take each sip it becomes a job. Weird levels of spice additions and citrus peels make for some crazy flavors, almost seems like orange juice textured. Mouthfeel just isn't working for me here, seems like there has to be a better option out there if you need a wheat beer fix. The other three beers in the sampler weren't bad escpecially their pale ale, but this was pretty unbearable overall. Carbonation level tickles the back of the throat and the acidity of the beer gives you a sour stomach after a few sips, drain pour for my homies.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a Hoegaarden glass.

Pours a cloudy apricot colour. Half a finger of white head dissapates quickly to nothing. No lacing at all.

Mild nose with some coriander, citrus and bready notes.

The taste was considerably better than the smell. Coriander up front, some orange peel. Nice crisp tart finish.

Light body, moderate carbonation. Clean.

Not a bad offering from The Lion Brewery, but nothing spectacular.

Very little head appeared upon pouring, but this is still a pretty nice-looking ale. The heart of the glass is frosty brown-orange, but fades to a yellowish brown near the edges. Smells sweet and wheaty, citrus and coriander spice are obvious. The flavor is crisp and citrusy with tones of sweet bread and spices. This is a really well-balanced witbier.

A tasty, very drinkable beer. Smell is yeast and citrus, and flavor is very clean Belgian white with overtones of spice and orange. Satisfying but not heavy, and very well-balanced. Fans of Blue Moon will likely enjoy this, but the flavors are more subtle and (perhaps partially based on lack of familiarity) more interesting. A very easy to drink beer.

A - Drank from the tap. Had a nice orange glow to the beer. A small, white top that made it very appealing.
S - Smell a lot of orange.
T - Also taste a lot of orange, but can still taste the hops.
M - My beer had a great amount of carbonation that really threw out the flavors of the beer.
D - A good carbonation plus a nice flavor of fruits and hops put this at one of the better beers I've tried.

I might be overrating this beer, but I really liked the amount of carbonation and the power it had on the fruity flavor of this beer.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine July 2007.

A new summer seasonal to replace last year's Summer Stock Lager--an odd move, being that it was the highest scored beer of the Stegmaier brand on BeerAdvocate.com

This has the telltale appearance of a Belgian White Ale: completely cloudy with a yellow-orange color and a beige tinge. White lace from two fingers of head strug- gles to stay afloat. Soft, fluffy floral aroma, with a bit of spicy wheat in the back. Moderate body with a quick crispness and a slick mouthfeel. Spicing is quite evident with orange peel and a soft coriander in the forefront. Very modest hop bitterness and a nearly flat malt flavor are followed by a quick, dry finish.

Some breweries should stick to what they do best. To be blunt, Lion Brewery shouldn't be brewing Belgian-style ales when they already brew good lagers. Pit this one against the many Belgian White Ales out there, and it lands towards the bottom of the list. Bring back the Summer Stock Lager, please!

The beer pours a hazy gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is average. It has a nice pale and wheat malt scent, but little to no Belgian yeast esters present. The taste is decent. It has a light pale and wheat malt flavor. It goes down quick and easy with little Belgian yeast character. It's pretty basic in composition, but would benefit greatly with yeast fruitiness. The mouthfeel is decent as well. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an easy drinker, but people expecting true Belgian character will be disappointed.

Poured into a standard pint glass a pretty clear orange tinged golden with a thin head atop.Big wheat malt in the nose mixed with some unexpected floral hops,it was quite nice.Flavors of toasted wheat malt are most predomiant with light citrus, kinda ho hum.Outside of the nice aromas its simple and well...ho hum, still I have had worse of the style.

A special thanks to Corey for sending this bottle my way. I'm apologizing to my BA friends in advance for blowing it on the first pour, I should have rolled the bottle to break up the sediment or, b) left the sediment in the bottom of the bottle.

A - As stated previous, I really blew this pour by dumping alot of nasty clumps of sediment in the glass, it really wrecked the appearance. Pours a hazy pale orange color with large amounts of sediment clups and sediment debris. Produces a nice creamy foam ring around the top and produces a moderate amount of carbonation.

S - Smells like a Belgian White Ale should - coriander and spice with a noticeable amount of a wheat back bone. Also picking up some traces of lemon grass in the back ground.

T - Comes through in the form of lemon, spice, and some coriander. The taste is delicate, not overly up front, and pretty light & subdued.

M - A little grainy, light bodied, and leaves a mild lemon wheat aftertaste.

D - Moderate.

Is balanced, but the taste isn't doing much for my palette because there's not enough flavor jumping out to make it interesting or enjoyable enough for my own personal liking. I could maybe quaff this one if it were ice cold but isn't something I would seek out.

Not an exciting beer, about everything you'd expect in a white beer. That being said it is a pleasant light tasting whitebeer which goes down easy. I had this the other day and I noticed while initially it didn't have alot of flavor besides wheat, there was a bit of a fruity finish. Overall this is a good light beer.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color with a head more soda-like than expected (this is supposed to be a Wit) that soon disappears though it leaves some viscous liquid clinging to the glass

Smell: Toasted wheat bread, tropical fruit and a bit of coriander

Taste: Toasted bread and sweet tropical fruit, with a growing lemon/orange character and a strong coriander element developing by mid-palate; after the swallow, the fruit and spice linger into a rather sweet finish

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with low carbonation and a watery finish

Drinkability: The beer has some potential but the mouthfeel/carbonation is all wrong and the fruit/spice elements could be a bit more nuanced

Bought as part of a Stegmaier mixed 12 pack.. surprised to see only 2 other reviews on here. Pours a cloudy orange/yellow color, smallish white head to it. Faint wheaty smell to it. Taste is medium bodied, some nice spice and lemony zest to it. Mouthfeel is pretty good, aftertaste has an odd astringent taste to it. Pretty drinkable, but doesn't finish clean for me. Not bad, but I wouldn't consider this a great white ale either.
