On tap at Tribeca Tavern in Raleigh

A - clear gold with a huge amount of carbonation rising to meet the thin, white layer of head

S - cereal grains, grassy

T - grasy, lightly malty, little bread

M - light bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This is definitely a brewpubs response to an American Light Lager. It's flavorful, light bodied, and very sessionable. It's malty but there is little hop character for balance. Worth a try if you want something light, but if you're looking for flavor, grab one of their other more full-flavored offerings.

Poured on-tap at The Mash House and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, golden coloring with a wispy, white, filmy head. Nose of toast and floral highlights, but light. Flavors are tangy sweet, with a toasty backbone, and hints of caramel and butter. The beer becomes very sweet as you go. Smooth bodied and light, with a subtly, tangy aftertaste. Smooth, clean finish. Drinkable, but nothing remarkable as Blondes go.

Appearance: clear light yellow in color with a wispy head. Few carbonation bubbles are slow to rise to the surface. No lacing develops.

Smell: I could not determine any aroma with this beer.

Taste: hint of malt sweetness, some grass, mild green grapes sweetness, and little bitterness. Bland and dull.

Mouthfeel: light in body. Crisp from start to finish. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: a very dull beer that bores one quickly. Go for the stout or IPA.

The beer arrived on the table clear pale straw with zero head...none, nada.

The aroma was slight light caramel sweetness and no hop flavor, but a very slight fruitiness.

The flavor was slightly sweet and slightly grainy with a low honey sweetness flavor (no honey listed as being used) and a low fruit flavor.

The finish was dry with a slight low grainy flavor that diminished quickly. The body was medium light. A very easy to drink beer, but very boring at the same time.

On tap at the Brewpub. 4.5% ABV, 8 IBU.

Sampled at the brewpub, this is light yellow and quite bubbly, yet there’s no head. There’s little aroma, maye a little corn starch. The lavor is lightly malty and sweet, butnot too biscuity and without any starches. Pretty good Koelsch-style brew. (#2802, 4/21/07)

Served on-tap at Bogart's in Raleigh, NC.

The pint glass was filled with a semi-attractive, clear golden brew submerged beneath a thin wisp of fluffy off-white head. The aroma was more than I expected, bringing notes of wheat, egg white, and a hint of grass. Nothing extravagant, but a fairly decent nose on this Blonde.

The flavor wasn't much of an improvement, sadly, as all I could really detect was a slight hint of tropical fruits, crystal malts, and a kiss of wheat. The mouthfeel was light, crisp, and nicely carbonated...bubbly enough to get the palate envigorated. Still though, I feel like this beer would've benefitted from having a meal paired with it. Standing alone at Bogart's, however, it fell flat. Thank god Mash House started producing their IPA again...that saved my palate from mediocrity tonight.
