The food here is great and you get a lot of decent atmosphere from Nationwide arena crowd. I frequent whenever I take in a Blue Jackets game myself. The only con is that they only serve their six house brews, but all of them were decent to impressive. I thought the Czech Pils was the best of their 6. Definitely recommend.

I have been here several times before and after Blue Jackets games. As I walk in there is a rectangular bar to the right with high top tables and booths around it. Straight ahead is the dining room and kitchen, which is open to view the cooking process. I have always sat at or around the bar.

It is very clean and modern looking. They had the six regulars on tap with the seasonal tap being a tripel. The regular beers are German styles, mostly lagers. The menu has a nice variety, pasta, pizza, seafood, steaks, sandwiches. My date and I both struggled to narrow our selection of food down to one dish each.

I settled and a pasta dish which wasn't the best meal that I have had there. My date seemed to enjoy her dish. The wait staff was very attentive. We had three people stop by during our visit to make sure we were getting what we needed.

This is a nice place to dine. The food is better than the beer selection. The beers are good but not enough variety for me. The location contributes to the frequency of my visits more than anything.

Atmsphere is nothing really special. Its your typical modern looking restaurant with a large bar and plenty of seating.

Service is also just like any other restaurant. It also appeared that the staff wasn't the most knowledgeable about their beer.

They focuse on lagers here and have 6 on tap. Apparently five of their beers are in their regular lineup and a seasonal handle. Apparently they have other beers too but they come in a bottle.

Food is pretty solid. A pretty large menu with quite a few options.

Overall, not a bad place, but I wouldn't call this the beer destination of the city.

I prefer Ales over Lagers, so GB locations are always the first place I want to visit in a town. My son had a root beer - good but bit sweet, my son didn't drink the whole glass.

I had the Maibock which was good, but seemed to have tastes that were inconsistent with they style.

However, I've never had better all around service, friendliness, attention to detail, I was only there for one beer but wish I could've stayed!

My son and I sat the bar and the wait staff took exceptionally god care of us - that alone will make us consider coming back!@

Been in here a few times for lunch as well as dinner. Normally only stop in if I have some kind of coupon or there's a good deal going on. Other than that, not really worth it.

The restaurant is very clean, and has a nice feel to it, but there's nothing out of the ordinary and nothing impressive, just pretty average. The service has always been fairly good when it comes to the food. The beer on the other hand is a little different story. The servers I've had experience with all rattle off the standard lines they're given about the beers, and I get the feeling they don't really know much beyond that.

The selection is very plain and 'safe.' There's nothing that really makes you want to order a specific beer. In other words, nothing jumps out at you. The food is of higher quality, and everything I've ever had has been good, but never overly impressive. The price is a little higher than I would like, hence my only stopping there when I have a good deal.

Overall, a good place to take someone if they're not into the craft beer scene. This can be good for business or any other type of meetings. Since there are no "out-there" offerings, pretty much anyone can handle their offerings without much trouble at all.

Located right across from the Nationwide Arena
V: Upon entering, you get that 'chain restaurant' feeling, although it seems a tad bit classier then your typical chain. The place is big and clean with lots of beer paraphernalia all around the place.

Ser: The bartenders were quite knowledgeable about the beers they had on tap and were quick to make some solid food recommendations based on the beers selected.

Sel: They had 6 beers on tap. They had a Hefe, Czech Pilsner, Marzen, Schwarzbier and a seasonal which was a Weizenbock. They do have some Macros, not sure the extent, but I did see some Bud Light and Miller lights.

F: Your typical chain bar food. Soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches...etc. The food is what you would expect. It is decent...nothing stands out but nothing is terrible.

They also offer some better wine (not just yellow tail) for those not interested in beer and they have a lot of different specialty drinks, martini's and margaritas.

Overall, not a place a would certainly go out of my way for, but also not a bad place when at the arena or ballpark.

Gordon Biersch is a convenient stop for a beer when your visiting Nationwide Arena. It sets to the north east of the arena among the bars and restaurants of the arena district.

The atmosphere is clean and a little sterile. It's nice, but it's a corporate kind of nice. There is a nice patio area, if the weather's warm.

Gordon Biersch specializes in lagers. Most of them are clean and refreshing. Don't expect hop bombs, and you should find something to enjoy. I like their Schwartzbier.

Not a place that I'd make as a destination on it's own, but it is a good spot for a pre or post game beer.

Until this visit, I hadn't been to a Gordon Biersch since 2002, and back then I thought it was high-class beer. How things change...

This one has a nice facility in a great location near the arena and ball-park. Somehow seemed way less unique and innovative than it did in 2002. The menu didn't look like it had changed a bit (BBQ Chx Pizza, garlic fries, etc) nor did the beers. The beer selection is pretty short, and boring. The beer descriptions seemed geared toward making them seem more exciting than they actually were - schwarzbier is dark - true, but tastes boring. Czech pilsner was probably the most exciting beer on the menu, and far from thrilling.

Service was just average, and the food was pretty good. I think time has passed this place by - seemed to me like an Applebee's with slightly better beer. I will likely be back, but due to great location and lack of nearby competition rather than for a love of the place.

This place is located in the alleyway about a block South of Neil Avenue and just North of Front St. in the Arena District of downtown Columbus. This has been one of the go-to locations when attending a Blue Jackets game, as it is almost touching the Nationwide Arena, but doesn't stand out enough to make it a destination for any other occasion.

First, Gordon Biersch is a chain brew-pub, or at least has that feel to it. The atmosphere is better than most restaurants and includes a lot of breweriana, but doesn't conjur up the intimate feeling a great beer location should. The food menu is pretty large, but only marginally better than your standard pub food, and just good enough to be acceptable.

As far as beer goes, they offer almost exclusively lagers (and I'm almost exclusively an ale drinker, so my review is notedly biased), though they do hit many of the main styles. I've never been impressed with any of their offerings, due to the fact that, as previously noted in other reviews, they tend toward the watery-thin taste that you sometimes find at brewpubs. They have never really distinguished their beers from the rest of the market -- they are all pretty standard, pretty average offerings that are hard to get too excited about.

If you coming to Columbus, or live here, and are looking for a great beer drinking experience, this isn't the place to go. However, if you are just looking to stop in for a drink before watching the Jackets or a concert in the Arena district, this will certainly fit the bill.

I spent a lot of time here for the '08 NHC First Round Homebrew Judging. Neslted into the retired warehouse district / turn up-and-comming entertainment district, the procession into the venue is artistic, historic, and energetic. After I get inside, it very closely resembles another Gordon Biersch that I visited last summer in Atlanta. Cozy and open. Dressed up a little prettier than your average Ruby Tuesday's. And with a staff that seems to know their beers well-- they could be a bit friendlier (almost up-idy). The food assortment was very good and hosts a vast array of items on the menu. Beers, of course, are of strict German recipes, but are as clean and to-style as German beers get. 5 beers were on tap at this particular time. It's nice to visit establishments that accept the AHA discount.
