This old established traditional bar is just opposite Bockenheimer Wart U Station, so is easy to find.
At time of visit (May 2013) there were only 4 beers on tap which included, Andechs Dunkel, Binding Romer Pils and two others. The only reason we visited was for the Andechs, as not often seen in this part of Germany and Binding beers are probably my least favourite German beer, its more like Heinenken... awful!
This is a SMOKING bar! I got the impression the interior had not been decorated in 30 years, and the toilet walls covered in graffiti, so not very encouraging. However, we enjoyed the Andechs, had good friendly service, even though the bar lady knew no English. There was no food menu (at mid-day) and just 5 other locals sat at the bar drinking the Binding Pils.
Not sure how to rate this bar, others may enjoy its old traditional smoke filled atmosphere, but with only one decent beer on tap makes it difficult to recommend wholeheartedly.

Was recommended this place from a local. He said guests are a mixture of young people and regulars since it is close to university.
On tap they have local as well as national beers. Binding is the local which I personally do not fancy. National beer would be Jever.
Tucher Hefeweizen is great as well as Andechs dark beer. But you have to be careful with the Andechs as this is very strong and can easily knock you out if you drink to much !
They offer also food and some guests are eating there as well. I think this is more a drinking place than a place to eat.
I like the place and will come back next time I am in Frankfurt.

Doctor Flotte was fairly easy to find. Ride the U-bahn (U4, U6, or U7) to Bockenheimer Warte, and exit at the Gräfstraße exit. When you reach the street level, walk straight ahead, with the Bockenheimer Warte tower on your left, cross the street, and the pub is directly in front of you, on the corner.
The pub has an old look and feel to it with dark wood and yellow pastel upper walls. The room is roughly rectangular with the bar straight ahead as you enter. The bar is somewhat oval shaped with stools. There are bottles and bric-a-brac above the bar (including an old sewing machine and an old phonograph). There is a bench along the right wall, below curtained windows, and in front of this bench are approx. 7 tables stretching the length of the room. There are two more larger tables near the entrance, along the opposite wall. There is a large, projection TV above the door (which was showing a soccer match), and at least one more TV on a wall near the bar. Many old, framed photos cover the walls, and there is an interesting old chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Finally, there are a couple of "fruit machines" (gambling) in the rear.
The beer list was modest but decent. From Tap: Binding Römer Pils, Binding Export, Andechs Klosterbräu Dunkel, Tucher Hefeweizen. From bottle: Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen and Kritallweizen, Clausthaler non-alcoholic. They also sell some spirits and whisky/whiskey, as well as mixed drinks and some wines.
There were two daily food menu items during my visit: a soup and an entree, which were Chili Con Carne, and Grünkohl mit Mettwurst, Speck, und Salzkartoffln. The Mettwurst mit Grünkohl was a good, hearty lunch for a reasonable price ( 6.90).
The service was all by the barman. The only other staff I saw was the cook, who peaked out from the kitchen. She was quite possibly the wife of the barman, but I really don't know. Service was good, and my attempts at German were understood, though I suspect English alone would be fine here.
The customers seemed to be a combination of local regulars (in the rear), and groups of students (near the entrance) from the nearby University, and others. My visit was during the afternoon, and as this pub is open from 6:00 AM until 2:00 AM, it could be quite different at other times.
Overall a nice comfortable pub, easy to get to by public transportation, with good food and some good beers.
