This Consumer's is the closest one to my house therefore I tend to come here the most out of all of them in the greater Buffalo area. I have also been to the Sheridran Drive location on numerous occasions. I used to live near the Transit Road store so I spent my fair share of $ there as well.

All of the Consumers locations have a pretty decent selection of imports, micro and macro selections. The ones that I have been to also have growler stations which is pretty cool. You can usually get a decent Growler for about $8-9 or so.

The Elmwood Avenue location is not as big as the other ones I mentioned above but they have the same basic selection as the other stores. Not a huge amount of beligans, but eneough to satisfy me. Plus they always have a lot of west coast (north coast, stone, lagunitas, avery, rogue) and east coast (dogfish, long trail) and NY selections (southern tier, ommegang, ellicottville, ithaca, etc...)

Employees are mostly kids but they are always nice and pleasant and will help you with what knowledge they posses.

Prices are reasonable. Always less than Premier but since the selection is better at Premier I guess you would expect that to be the case.

Bottom line is that you can pretty much always get what you want here.

Right around the corner from Premier Gourmet. Went there after realizing that Premier was almost empty and void of anything really worth while. Firestone Walker is a new addition to the Buffalo area and was super happy to find 5 bottles of their 15th Anniversary beer on the shelf at a very good price ($18.99)

The place was a little dirty and the staff although nice were merely just part timers. We chatted a little about the FW beer and I commented to them about the atrocity of the DFH Faithful ale being so overpriced ($17.99) they shrugged it off and collected my money.

Good selection, didn't look to close at dates but I always check dates on IPA's I buy only and yesterday I didn't buy any from them. Will probably return.

A hop, skip and a jump from Premier Gourmet. Worth checking out. They had a few beers on the shelves that Premier didn't and were a little cheaper but overall the selection isn't as good. They've got all the regulars though and a good representation of New York breweries. Seems like a very nice go to store for locals. I only wish we had half the selection of these micro's in Ontario.
Freshness of IPA's can be a concern at most Consumer's. Staff were friendly and seemed to be there if you needed any help.
It was worth heading over there on my visit.

Price is the best reason to go there as they have good prices on most craft beers as well as on macros in case you need to stock up for a party. They also have a growler filling station.

Selection is better at Premier Gourmet and the Village Beer Merchant, the other beer-store competitors in town. For some reason they don't have all that many imports comparatively.

I felt compelled to review because they have serious issues with old beer. I went in today hoping to find a fresh IPA but had no luck. Every IPA on the shelves was either many months past bottling date or nearing the end of its "drink by" date.

Unless you're sure something has just been released on the market and that is the current year's batch, I would not buy an age-sensitive beer from this location (other locations have similar issues but I verified this one today).

Overall the people at Consumers are friendly enough, but none ever seem to be "in the know." It's more of a faceless distributor than a beer store staffed by people passionate about beer.

Visited this place on a recent trip to Buffalo. This place is about 2 minutes from Premier Gourmet, and they have lower prices on quite a few things so its worth it to check both of them out, as well as Consumer's having quite a few things that Premier didn't have, like 6 packs of Stone Oaked AB for $16.99 which is a pretty good deal from what I've seen, and I picked up a 6 pack of Brooklyn Black Chocolate for $7.99! We had great service here, guy was really quick to talk some beer with us and help with all our needs. Store is quite small, but there are 4 or 5 double sided shelves loaded with beer, as well as a cooler full of swill. Lots of representation from the good micro's, with some being a couple dollars cheaper than at Premier. They also have a full growler fill cooler, with growlers to go of local stuff. I remember some Flying Bison brews as well at Sierra Nevada Celebration. Not as big of a selection as Premier, especially when it comes to Belgians, but for American micro's I found Consumer's to be cheaper than Premier, so check them both out.
