Been here a couple times - there's nothing spectacular, but it's there for when you need it, like when I was near the neighborhood and dying for a burger. The food is standard local pub fare, burgers and cheesesteaks, that taste fantastic. You're allowed to build your burger with two toppings and I downed mine with roasted red peppers and fried onions. The fries are delicious and come crispy without being overcooked. I had some wings here that almost rivaled Union Jack's hot wings, they were that good.
The draft beer is nothing to write much about- I usually get the seasonal Sam Adams, which so far has been the Cherry Wheat. Troegs and Dogfish Head are also on tap. There were a few good bottles sitting in the corner like Duval, which were probably woefully neglected. The regulars were mostly drinking out of bottles. Lest I seem snobby, let me say everyone was friendly and nice there. The service was great, no complaints there.

It's not a bad place to hang out. The bar had plently of TVs with sports games on, and it adjoins another room with pool tables. The interior has a junky, dive look that passes for cozy, like the inside of an antique shop. The kitchen is behind the bar and you can clearly see the cook at work, and food comes out fast if they're not busy. I wish they would have better drafts, but I don't think they quite "get it" yet: When trying to pick a beer, the bartender said helpfully, "We have Stella." I think the good stuff goes untouched - my boyfriend felt his 60 Minute draft was off, and when I tried it, I, an IPA hater, was able to drink that baby like it was water.

My wife and I went over to the Hulmeville Inn for the first time last weekend, despite it being no more than 20 minutes for from our home. Not sure why we’ve never gotten there, but we hadn’t.

It really is a weird place. Everything about it screams dive bar. Dive bar...with an insane tap list. 4 Tired Hands were on, along with a bunch of other goodies. There was a cask on the hand pump. And prices are low. Really low. They do crowler and growler fills, as well.

Food was typical bar food, but totally serviceable.

Our bartender was attentive.

Fun, if odd, place.

Good Vibe and quality brews here and the food is excellent. They always have great beer on tap and always fresh. However 2 bartenders here always treat me like a jerk that did something to them and I honestly don't know why. Maybe because I'm pretty young to be in the beer scene or I guess maybe because I'm not regular enough. It's overall a great bar close to my house with tons of beer options and they are the only place I know in the area that will do crowlers. But I don't care how much crap the bartenders give me, they have the best beer bar in the area.

The wife and I were driving back home to Philadelphia and decided to stop here. It is not too far off from I-95.

The joint looks like one of those grand old Pennsylvania inns from the outside, the kind that serves fancy food and charges hefty money for it, but inside the Hulmeville is just a sports/local bar with a young clientele.

I almost fainted when I saw Angel's Share '12 and Deliverance on the chalkboard menu on the wall thinking they were on draft, but they turned out to be bottles. Still enticing, I got an Angel's Share for $19.

The Southampton Russian Imperial on cask was to die for, and the other taps had stuff from Stone, Pizza Boy, Boulevard, Allagash, Southern Tier and many more. Twenty taps overall.
I got a 4-draft sampler for $5.95, and real pints are $4.75. Good deal!

The food is mostly generic bar grub, lots of fried stuff. We had pierogies (fried) and they were alright.

Service was slightly standoffish but warmed up quickly, and the atmosphere was convivial. Would definitely revisit if I'm nearby.

On a rec from he who Bakes and she who knows, too. Heard about, known about, and have wanted to see but so seldom ever never out this way. Up in the ‘burbs I have to work for a bit. Easy navigation from points to & from points elsewhere, having gotten out early this Saturday, for Philly play...

It’s one of them old inn at an intersection type places. I wonder if they house here, as I’m on the ground floor of something with more than another floor. Enter from the back and find the bar to the far; a backwards ‘J’ with a marbled laminate top, wood lip, panel base, & foot box; seating for 18 on leather topped stools. The first thing that jumped out at me was the black plastic ashtrays every 3 feet along the bar. Oh, I see, they’re not ornamental; no. Well liquor and cooler space bordering three sides around. Bar island piece in the middle there, and stacked glassware and a Jager machine on a cooler housing bottled selections below. Upright racks behind the bar with non pint glassware stacked or dangling, and a rear corner kitchen space where the magic happens.

Reddish square tile floorings, wood slat ceiling and plank overhang tracing Brick walls and some stucco towards the front side. They’ve got, well, they must be fans but they look like roulette wheels out over the floor; haven’t seen that one before. Ping pong ball lamps running the bar overhang, and house growlers a-danglin’ from the top side. Flats above the bar and on every wall everywherewhichway; exciting golf on most of them today. Light brewery tins, pub signs, and an old town map of somewhere called ‘Middletown’ (I think we may be in it). Shwag showcase inlayed below the largest flat, and draft & bottle boards to each side. Juke box over there (me, pointing).

A dozen or so tables about; 2 seat rectangular hightops & shorty low boys for the push together, and bar counter space on the far wall with countered gaming there. Plus the small front side step down room with nearly a ½ dozen tables. And I can see a far side room through the across the bar on the other side, done up with some brewery tins, 2 pool tables, Phil’s golf game, & electronic darts.

20 taps spread across a stainless steel barbell tower of 10, a pair of upright cylinder towers of 4 each, a solo Lindemans handle, and a hand pump. Mix & match PA play (Weyerbacher Heresy, Victory Summer Love, Yuengling Bock & Lager), craft regional (Ommegang Aphrodite, Allagash White), and elsewhereables (Founders All Day IPA & Rubaeus, Leininkugel’s Summer Shandy, Avery White Rascal, Russian River Damnation, Bruery Bois, Firestone Walker Union Jack & Double Jack, Stone Ruination), a few imports (Lindemans Framboise, Guinness), macro wahs (Coors Light, Miller Lite), and a single hand pump (Yards IPA). I drank the Firestone Walker Union Jack due to its inherent goodness & the ‘when in Philly’ cask Yards IPA.

Beer menu lists tap date, brewer, beer, style, ABV, origin, serving size, & price, including that for pitcher & growler fills. And 4 dozen good bottles (Oh, hello Deschutes, Great Lakes, Port, Russian River, Brewer’s Art…), and 2 dozen+ macros, meh imports, maltos, & N/A, which they refer to as ‘everything else’.

Let us not pretend food won’t fix my head; you know it, and I know it. I went with the blackened chicken wrap (cheddar, lettuce, tomato, but hold the ranch, please). It showed up (like) instantly, actually, even before I thought of ordering it; it was that quick. It was warm fresh off the grill and you could tell they made that shit with love, yo. Killler wrap, it had some nice heat but it wasn’t over the top. And thank you pickle spear and chips of crunchy, accompaniment.

The clientele is a mix of old Saturday guys and inked pierced tough guys, or a blend of. It’s good crowd; they’re talking beer. The Bruery Bois came up, I expressed interest and was poured a shorty glass. It’s a 15% beast of a barrel aged old ale. Good grief! A wrap and 2 beers for $17, oh yeah. Hell, my 2 pints ran less than $10. Just like NYC pricing. In the 90’s. Good food & drink. Someone knows what they’re doing here. Like!

I am a smoker so the fact that I can smoke at the bar is a plus for me.

I have been to this place more times than I can remember over the last 10+ years. There's only been a handful of bartenders over the years and they are all very pleasant and knowledgeable. A couple of them are even home brewers with above average of knowledge of craft beers.

I find that Monday nights are sometimes the best nights with their specials on craft beers. Weekends are usually the mix of patrons but don't let that stop you.

I feel their food is above average for a bar. The wings and cheesesteaks are some of the best in the Philly area.

The beer selection at The Hulmeville Inn cannot be summed up in one visit. The taps rotate constantly. If the owner happens to be around, he is usually talking to a patron as if they were a close friend. He loves to talk beer and is always open to suggestions for beer to put on tap. There's almost always some brewery or special beer event planned.

The owner hosts a monthly meeting of the local home brew club as well.

If you don't like the smoke, go for lunch when it's not as crowded.

This is a great beer bar in a city known for great beer bars so the stakes are high. They have 20 taps that can range from Moylaner IIPA to Russian River Pliney the Elder and Younger. The day I was there they had a great selection of beers from New Holland to Russian River to Yards and Weyerbacher etc. Great selection on the juke box and they had the Phillies game on the large screen TV. They have a great outside patio but it wasn't open yet they have 40+ micro brewer in cans out there so if it's the summer give it a try they also have a separate food menu for the patio. The food is decent bar food the wings are good the Firehouse burger is one of the best I've had. Overall a solid bar the only negative is it's a smoking bar.

Stopped by here for beers in between in laws. 20 beers on tap, some bmc but most were offerings from victory, voodoo, Troegs, etc. Also had old crustian, and a handle from ballast point.

Beer was served in clean and appropriate glassware. Food smelled good, but we did not eat. Food was average pub offerings.

Service was pretty quick and efficient despite on one bar tender for a full bar.

Atmosphere was a mix of hipster and local low lows. I thought it was fun.

Prices were fair, growlers to go. What more to ask?

Good beer selection, whether you are looking for draught or bottle. They have a beer menu available which tells you when the keg was tapped, the name/type and place of origin, alcohol %, and price. The menu is also updated constantly with new arrivals. Food is pretty decent for bar food, especially their sandwich selection. The building has an old colonial look to it, and probably is from that time. I've been there many times and never experienced any "rift raft" causing problems. Definitely a place to check out.

This place has 21 taps and a cask selection. Always solid choices the bartenders that i encountered were very friendly and seemed to know about the beers that they had. The food menu is basic bar food but not bad i had a Boardwalk Cheesesteak and Old Bay fries and i had no complaints about it. In the back i noticed a pool table. I think they now have an outdoor seating area. This is an old building it looks really cool from the outside. The place is clean also. When ever im up in that area i always make it a point of stopping in. they fill Growlers too. I never been there at night alway around the lunch hour. It seems to have many locals at the bar drinking the Bud and Coors. But they are also friendly. The only complaint about the place is they allow smoking which im fine with just as long as i don't sit right next to a smoker.

P.S i have nothing against the mass beer consumers.

The Hulmeville is my favorite bar in Bucks County. They have about 20 taps, with 15-18 devoted to craft beer. Selection is unbeatable-I've had Russian River(Pliny+), Hill Farmstead, Ballast Point, Cigar City, Deschutes- the list is endless. When you're seated at the bar you're given a full Beer Menu for draft and bottles with descriptions/ABV/glassware for each beer.Prices are pretty consistent at $4.75/pint- can range about a $1 depending on the beer. Mondays are $1.25 off all craft beers. They also do growler fills of almost everything. I've eaten a few times, only tried burger & fry type stuff but food is solid and reasonably priced. Service has always been great. They also have a website that is updated daily with their current tap list, as well as an email list & Twitter account for daily updates. Can't recommend this place enough. One drawback is there is very little parking- often have to park on street or about a block away. Not a big deal but just a heads up.

EDIT: Wanted to update to reflect that as of Oct 2013, the Hulmeville is now smoke-free.

This place is around the corner from me and is probably the best local bar in my opinion. The selection is good with many oddities available. They have special tappings and events regularly. They also recently opened back up the outdoor area and let me tell you this is probably the best part about it. On a nice day it is a great place to spend a meal or afternoon. Fountains, a grill, umbrellas, etc. The food is fairly good the one time I had it. The beer is fairly well priced especially for the area. I'd say the one downfall is the atmosphere inside. It does have the typical things that are associated with a local bar in this area. Smoking, (gasp) normal beer drinkers, etc. It doesn't bother me but I know it could bother others. The service everytime has been good and friendly, from the little conversations I've had about beer they seem to know what they're talking about. Overall I'd like to go here more often and I think it's worth checking out if your just looking for a place in the are where you know you can get different beers.

So I heard about this place from a friend. I got word that they had a good selection of beers and some harder to find choices as well. I looked online and was surprised and interested by the selection. Hulmeville is sort of off the beaten path if you ask me but was worth the trip. A nice selection on-tap and bottle as well for a place outside Philly. Good prices as well. They carried a good amount of local stuff and the bartender seemed friendly. I dont have much to say about the service as we only had a few minor interactions ordering. I wasn't fond of the vibe of this place. It was layed out strange there which is ok but it was FILLED with cigarette smoke. Maybe I'm spoiled living in NJ and hanging in Philly often but to me this part sucked. It seemed like the crowd there werent fans or drinkers of the craft/foreign beers there either(especially seeing a couple pieces of Coors Light clothing). I feel that this place is worth the trip but the location, vib and smoke knocked this one down a couple notches for me.

Always friendly service and attentive.

The food is good. But it is basic pub food. Burgers, BLT, Chili, Soup.

The draft beer selection is the best north of Center City. I have had Russian River, Weyebacher 15, Dogfish Head Bitches Brew, Olde School, and Worldwide Stout, etc. Jeff always tries to get the unusual.

Some bottles can be expensive but they are expensive outside the bar.

Was visiting some friends in Levittown this past weekend and we hit up this place for a bite and some good beers. It's located near a kind of funky intersection, and the parking is fairly scarce. From the outside you can see some craft beer signs, Rogues, Lagunitas, and Victory were on display with a Got Beer? sign that I found interesting. Inside is a U shaped bar that protects a tiny kitchen. Some small tables are lined along the walls with TV's in each corner. If you walk to the far side theres a small room with about 4 tables and 2 TV's if you want to escape the smoke(Yes they allow smoking). Jukebox is on the wall as you walk in. A big board with all the beers on tap and a majority, if not all of their bottles are listed.

The service could've been a little better. The bar tenders were very friendly and helpful, but I ordered 2 beers with dinner and 2 beers to go and with each name they looked at me with blank stares. A nice selection nonetheless, but I think a majority of the people there drink Coors, Miller, Yeungling, and maybe the occasional Sam Adams seasonal is probably the most common beers ordered. No servers interestingly as we had to order through the bar(we sat in the non smoking room).

The selection is deffinitely a positive. A lot of stuff they had that didn't have many reviews on here, and its always changing. Their website is very useful as it gives you a daily tap schedule, and you can get on their mailing list for upcoming kegs/bottles. This place is far from where I live but not all that far from my work, and I was REALLY excited to see they have a history of getting both PTE and PTY.

The food you could say was average pub grub, but the its quality pub grub. Not too mention not one food item on the menu is above 9$. They even get a little creative like a chicken cheesteak with bacon, alfredo sauce, provolone cheese on garlic bread(delicious btw).

The food pricing was real cheap, the beer was priced at what you'd expect, I would list this place at inexpensive, but I kicked it up to reasonable due to a 40$ 750ml bottle of Scaldis Prestige! Despite the smoke, this is a cool place to hang out and try some good beer, just gotta guide the employee's a little bit. I recommend this place and will probably be going back at some point.

Hulmeville Inn is a bit of a drive for me, but I had to check this place out. Located somewhere in Bucks county, I don't know. I came on a friday night and the parking was not terrible. This place has a nice country like vibe to it from outside which is nice and a change of pace. I think this place actually has rooms for rent.

From inside, this looks like a BMC bar and the patrons seemed to be drinking mostly that swill. Im cool with it, whatever pays the bills. There is a nice craft vibe here though with all the usual signs, tap handle collection, and a chalkboard type list up on the wall. Seperate rooms from the main bar/room held dining tables and a seperate pool table room

The service was good from what I can tell. As soon as the bartender realized I was not here for the swill, he promptly handed my a draft and bottle list, thanks, one less thing I have to ask for. I did not see any waitresses or the like for table service and this was a friday night, so I don't know about that. The bartender was prompt both times I went up.

Selection was pretty extensive for a bar that is just getting into the craft game. Nothing really OMG from the bottle list, just a few selections from various countries and styles. Great prices on these bottles and the drafts by the way. While I was there I got a Stateside Saison, Bear Republic Apex and a Coronado Idiot IPA off the handpump.

I did not have much food, just some fries, but I could not find a menu, so I don't know what they offer. I'll have to grab a bite here sometime. The bathrooms could use some work, I don't like all that graffiti on the walls. One other small complaint. They have a TV that shows what currently is tapped and it said Flying Fish Exit 16, so I tried to order one, and he said don't pay attention to what the TV said, and to focus on the "chalkboard". Fair enough, but please try to update your list, I got excited there for a second. My friend also ordered a Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree as it said in the menu, and it was the single version, which is great, but it was not what he expected. These are just minor faults from a establishment that I'll be coming back to quickly.

Edit- I LOVE this place, keep up the great work, Jeff. I've been here over 50 times since i started coming only about 6 months ago.

Atmosphere: Ranging from younger crowds playing pop on the jukebox --- all the way over to old rednecks slappin knees playin country. So... it's iffy sometimes.

Beer quality has never been in question, lines appear to be cleaned, they even innovate with pumping beer through hops sometimes!

Service is great, Dillon is one of my favorite bartenders.

Selection of Imperial Stouts and Quality IPAs can lack at times, but they have a very diverse selection and the owner is dedicated to keep bringing in new beers.

Food is standard bar food, but it's tasty, made quickly, and inexpensive.

Overall, cheap, quality beer, food, and sometimes, the company can be cheap. Also, sometimes it's hard to get a place to sit!

This place is great, cool bar with a great selection but they lose so much with service that can't handle the great selection they have. I came in for a victory at sea and when I ordered it the bartender said they didn't have it yet it was on the board and in the menu with todays date so I asked again to make sure he heard me and ordered it by ballast point still no luck. I ordered something else but as I looked around the room I saw what I believed to be the very beer I was seeking. So I sent my girlfriend up to ask and they said sure. Was I not worthy of some of ballast points finest, did the employee not listen to me, or did he just not care? This is the second time the bartenders have not been aware of what they have and didn't seem to care. There's so much great stuff how can you not be excited about the beer. I know I would be dying to work at a place with such a selection. No table service and when we did go to the bar to order food we received it very promptly and it was solid nothing to call mama about but for bar food it was good. Really clean fryer oil and it goes along way to give some great fries out. I then sat with all the empty glasses and empty food trays for as long as I was there, and it was a long time, over an hour before anyone came to clean up and it was dead in there. With some extra effort this place would be a weekly mission bar for me. So reasonable in price and such awesome brews. Just lacking in a few spots. I will keep coming back because I love this place and the selection. Keep up the good work and with a bit of tweaking this place will be world class.

Been back many more times and felt the need to up my review. Service has gotten a lot better and now there seems to be table service. Didn't see any tonight but a few times ago there was a girl crusing around. Bathrooms are all screwed up. Where befor they had been clean enough. Grafiti on the walls, and trash on the floor, but hell its friday night.

Edit-Have to bump them up after another killer night at the hulme. Met jeff himself tonight what a great guy, personable and gratious. He even hooked me up with a little snifter of a very special treat, one I've been looking to try for years. People you must make the trip, its such a cool spot to chill and enjoy some of the best brews on earth. Bye the way dylan is the fucking man keep up the good work dude its always a good night when he's tending.

The Hulmeville Inn is a gem of a beer bar right in between Bensalem and Langhorne. The rotating selection is always great and fresh. They've recently started having weekly Firkin Thursdays which is always a great treat. Plus they have an email list which alerts you do what is on and off tap. This feature allowed me to head over during lunch to grab a PtY. The food is exceptionally good for bar food. If you like spice try the Firehouse Burger.

My complaints are of course the smoking but also the service can be a little slow too during busy times. Usually when I've been there they only have one bartender (who does a good job trying to get to everyone) but it would be nice if they had someone else helping out. Also, the parking is very limited and most times you're parked along the road. But it's a small price to pay for a bar that brings excellent beer to the community.

One of the reasons why I purchased my current home was its proximity to the Hulmeville Inn. This bar is easily the best beer bar in Bucks County. Amazing selection of bottled beer, first class revolving draught beer, and you can still get a $2.50 Lager. The regular bar tenders are excellent, but sometimes their substitutes are not as versed in beer. New menu is fantastic; I love the Brisket, and the deep-fried green beans. Two pool tables and dart board. My only complaint is that it is a smoking establishment.

I found this place in philly beer week.org for the Weyebacher night.I knew about it but never went in. Parking is a little tight we had to park by another building that was closed. You first walk in and it seems a very tight fit. Decent size bar area.A little crowded when we went I guess do to beer - week and the weekend. (Then all of a sudden some big guy stumbles grabs hold of a chair the chair goes down then he stumbles some more trying to regain balance then boom falls flat on his ass). Small room when you walk in to your right with pool table's. If you walk straight there is a dining area that stretches the length of the bar.

When I do go out this is the place I come to anymore. Everywhere around the bucks county area is either a shot and beer bar or crazy expensive for beers and food. No more smoking allowed inside, along with the ever changing tap selection and low food prices the Hulmeville Inn is unbeatable for me. Love this place.

Old building located at a busy intersection. Very limited parking on premises, and some street parking is also available. The bar area is very old looking with plenty of wood. There is an open kitchen behind the bar which is shaped like a J and sports about 20 stools. Some other table are in the bar area. There were also about 10 very small TVs around the smallish room.

Two boards have draft and bottle listings for easy review. There were 17 taps and about 20+ bottles. Beers ranged from two Sly Fox beers, Founders Dirty Bastard, Anchor Xmas, Walt Wit, Sam Cherry Wheat, Home for the Holidays, Corsendonk Xmas beer, and Russian River Damnation. There is also the standard Yuengling, Miller Lite, Guiness, and Stella Artois.

The food was real low down pub grub. The brisket sandwich was very good, and people were raving about the homemade chili.

Surprising they serve so many good beers since most of the crowd was drinking Bud bottles or Yuengling. This place is a hidden gem.

I located this place looking through beeradvocate one day and thought I would give it a shot. I thought it would be great to have a good beer bar so close to my house, however like the below reviewer my first visit was a rather unpleasant one. The parking lot is very limited but there is parking on the street available as well. The inside area is setup with some table locations to sit down at as well as seating along side the bar area. They also have another area available to shoot pool and darts. There are several TVs setup and two large magnetic boards with the draft and bottled beer selection. I liked the idea of the magnetic boards rather then your usual chalk board style setup. The draft beer selection consisted of about 15-20 taps with only a few of them dedicated to the usual suspects. Their bottle selection is even larger with about 30-40 different beers from several different brewers. As for the service my first visit was almost my last. The bartender was rude from the start of the night. I ordered at least 6 different beers that were up on the bottled list and was told they were out of stock on them. After ordering several beers that the bartender said they were out of stock on I was then told "go look in the refrigerator that is what I have in stock pick one of them" in a aggressive tone like he was aggravated at me for trying to order a beer. How should I know that you don't have them in stock, if you don't have it take the signs down. I did however decide to go back and give this place another shot and was suprised at the different level of service I received. I ordered a beer and it was actually available. One beer I ordered was not in the refrigerator and they actually went to the back to take a look and found one for me. HUGE difference compared to a few nights prior. I would probably visit this place again based on my last visit however if I go there again and the same bartender is working as the first time I visited my stay will probably be very short.
