This is a nice beer bar in College Station. The only one besides the Fox & Hound chain. I found it a great place to go have a beer. The atmosphere is great. It has a nice old British pub feel to it. The service is good and friendly. The selection is not bad at all. Fuller's Porter is my favorite here, but they have some Spaten beers and Real Ale as well. The selection is better that about 90% of the bars around the area, but I have seen better. Though, you can't complain to much when they have Fuller's on tap. Overall, a place I will visit more often when I am in the area.

The place has potential with such an extensive list of beers available, unfortunately I've had too many beers from a dirty tap line to want to return. On specific occasions the bartender agreed that the line was in fact dirty and still refused to replace the beer. The service is subpar, I don't think any of these bartenders know how to smile. Some of the beer is fairly priced, others are outrageous. Be prepared for smaller pours of limited offerings, like 6oz small. Do expect to pay up to $1 per oz or more. The bar itself is dark and uncomfortable, like drinking in someone's basement. Ironically they also own Blackwater Draw, which has much better service , is well lit and clean.
I typically take my service elsewhere unless someone else is paying.

This was my favorite spot when I attended school at Texas A&M. The selection here is incredible for a college town and I got to try lots of limited stuff and amazings casks while I was at school. Also numerous breweries would have a launch party when they moved into Texas. My most memorable (or least memorable) was when Odell had their launch party at O'Bannons. At one point in the night odell set a company tab for everyone in the bar so that O'Bannons could set a record for pints served in Texas. It was amazing and to say the least I was not in class the next morning. My only complaint would be the staff that works here. I personally don't have a problem since I am an avid craft beer drinker and frequented this place a lot, but they could be rude if you didn't quite "fit in" with the craft beer drinking crowd so many of my casual friends would be turned off by the place and rather go any of the other bars in north gate.
If you somehow find yourself in College Station and don't think there is a great place for craft beer, go here you will find something you'll love.

I am not sure if they have more taps than FnH but they do have more selection. By that I mean no budlight wheat, Ultra, Lime beers, and all the other macros on tap. Just BMC on the front three taps then it goes up from there. Yeah bluemoon is there but lots of college students like it so what ya gonna do?
Have some nice big bottles from time to time that you can't find at Specs in town.
This might not sound strange to some but in this town it is, they serve beer in glasses! Not plastic cups. Amazing! Which is a cost since it is a college town and people enjoy leaving their pint glasses on the ground or dropping them.
Has some knowledgeable people on staff but others are kind of pricks. All in all I go there over FnH because better atmosphere and nicer people. If you're in the area and want good beer go there.

O'Bannons, when it first opened, was looking like the Black Sheep of Northgate (The College Station bar district), but when I went in and noticed the selection and the competency of the employees, I knew they would be around for a while.
At O'Bannons, they know how to pour a proper Guinness and the bar staff with teach you how. The waitresses will NEVER let your glass run dry (unlesss it's a busy night and Blaggards are there) and the owners will treat you like their best friends.
The atmosphere is friendly, warm and inviting. This is the kind of place I can go and have a pint at 3 in the afternoon and still have someone to talk to.
The beer selection is at a constant average of 75-80 beers on tap and in bottle/cans and is constantly rotating. I would say they change a couple of on tap beers every few months and bottle/can beers get switched 4 or 5 at a time at about the same rate. I can always try something new and interesting (though not always GOOD) one a month or so.
Overall, a good pub in the worst (read "misunderstood") place in town. Go in, have a beer, make a friend and you won't leave in a bad mood. (see Martini Street - CS)
